Sorry if this is a repost here.
I thought this was cool. Languages definitely have "distinct" sounds and even though I only know like 4 words in Russian, I can still speak "fake Russian" and have people identify it as "oh, that sounds like Russian."
I've also always wondered what English sounds like to non-English speakers.
This vid (I saw it posted on another non-language forum) has a French guy's approximation of fake English and then also some other languages including Finnish, Cantonese, and Romanian.

edit - can we embed youtube vids here?

edit 2 - guess not.

This topic came up a while ago, I think. I though this one was pretty good for fake English(at least, I think this is the one I saw before...).

A friend and I once "faked" Finnish without realising that a person who overheard us was Finnish. I will never do it again...
It's the real thing or nothing for me.

I find this odd because when I was little my friends and I liked the sound of languages like Chinese and Spanish so we would try and imitate them but we were told off for being disrespectful. And it is pretty disrespectful.

If you play the game "The Sims", apparently that is what non-English speakers say they think English sounds like to them.
