It does not sound like "pedophile" at all to my ears. It sounds like a chipmunk singing Jingle Bells.

You've got to be pretty paranoid to hear "pedophile" in that little song. Even when I was listening for it, it didn't sound like "pedophile". Just goes to show what these people have on their minds...

I could hear the "pedophile", but only because I was given the word beforehand. Had I heard it all on its own, without that context, I surely would not have interpreted it that way. I can also hear "jingle bells" if I try. For those of you who say you can't hear it, remember that this story is coming out of Britain, where "pedophile" is pronounced "PEE-duh-file", not "PED-uh-file"...and spelled with an A for some silly reason. ;)
Given that it was sung in an accent, then distorted, and then played in low quality audio, it does not surprise me that someone heard something totally different. Being unrecognizable as "jingle bells", our brains try to search for another interpretation of the sounds, and this is what one person came up with. It's exactly the same phenomenon as when people hear words that aren't there in music played backwards or music in a foreign language. There are even some people who fool themselves into thinking they can hear the voices of ghosts in white noise.

It was the same for me as with Levi. I was able to hear it as pedophile when I tried, but there's no way I'd have heard it if it hadn't been suggested to me beforehand. I can also hear it as jingle bells when I try.
Given the bad sound quality and all those chipmunk distortions, if you tried hard enough it might well have been possible to hear it as pedophile even if the original was sung by a native speaker.
If someone spontaneously and unprompted hears that as "pedophile" I think it must be because it's the main thing they have on their mind all day long :o).

Well, I guess if the recording sounds awful and you want your money back, the shop might not give a refund for a
toy that says "Jeegah Beers", but they'll definitely give a refund for a toy that says "pedophile", so that's the
complaint to make.

Ah, well that's just lovely. Now not only is that kitschy song stuck in head, it's stuck there accompanied by the lyrics "Ped-o-phile, ped-o-phile, pedo alltheway..." repeating over again in and endless, maddening loop. Let's just hope I don't start mumbling them half-aloud to myself while anyone's listening...

It's sort of like telling people not to think of a blue pony. Do that, and that's all anyone can think of.
This is truly dreadful pronunciation.
