Hello all,
First post here, hopefully not breaking the etiquette. I have searched the forum for my question, but found nothing.
I'm beginning to study Japanese with the Assimil and an old Berlitz I found. I'd love to complement this with simple Japanese books written in Kana (or Kanji with Kana complements). Books for kids might be OK, but if someone knows of a book which can be intrinsically fun for an adult, please point me to the reference. It' OK if the book requires more than my (maybe) 500+ words of vocabulary, I can wait till I don't need to look up a word on every line :-) Something I can order from Europe would be great (I may be pressing my luck, hehe)
Thanks in advance !
W

Well, if you're ever in London I highly recommend a book store called Foyles (Website here). I remember browsing there once and they had loads of books in Japanese from kids stuff right up to adult literature. I hope you can find them on the website!
If that fails there is ALWAYS amazon...

Thanks for the reply - any titles in mind ? I'm not sure "Japanese" is going to be the most useful of keywords :) I'll see if I can get anything out of the site though.
Re: Amazon, I'm better served with the .de version, I'm in Germany and the service and prices are waaaay better than on .fr.

There's "Japanese Children's Favorite Stories". Be careful not to get it in English by mistake. It's a collection of 15 stories, written in hiragana.
The first one is Issunboushi / いつすんぼうし.

Hello,
This seems to be the kind of book I'm looking for. Haven't had any luck yet, as I could not track down a Japanese version from European sources yet, though I must admit I haven't spent a lot of time on it yet.
Thanks !
Anyone with more suggestions of the kind, keep'em coming :-) !

I liked "この子誰の子?" by 宮部みゆき, it's a collection of short stories.
I think that this edition: (amazon link)
had furigana on all kanjis.
