Are Franco-Belgian (and Italian language, etc.) graphic novels available in English? It would be interesting to compare the originals with the translations.

Some are, though the sheer volume of graphic novels in France and Francophone Belgium has no counterpart elsewhere that I have seen (even in the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium, you do not see so many as you would French-language ones in a place like Brussels).
You might be better off seeing if there are French-language versions of English or American graphic novels.
