I think it is just a bad memory with word spelling. In most respects my memory is usually pretty good. I don't have to read or hear a word more than a couple of times to remember it, though sometimes I need a few more times to memorize the definition. For instance, there was a hockey player (who's now retired I think) for years I thought the spelling was Savaard. Finally one day I see it, and after years of reading the name I realize his last name is Savard. My brain seems to occasionally add things that are not there. I don't know if that is dyslexia or not. I never can remember when to use ie or ei, that kind of thing as well.

For English you could try "Correct Spelling Made Easy". I really liked the extended spelling rules in it. I think
it's out of print but you could probably find it on amazon for a dollar.
