Das Experiment and Der Untergang were awesome! Zwartboek (in Dutch) was good too, and it has a lot of German dialogue since it takes place in WWII in the Netherlands... all the German officers and soldiers speak pretty clear German. |

Zwartboek is very good, but the German in it is quite limited. While there's a fair amount, there's more Dutch and English (and some Hebrew, but not much), and the German is mainly very simple. I'm not sure I'd recommend watching it though, unless you're also learning or know Dutch, since Dutch and German are so similar.

How about "HEIMAT", it is very good,
has anybody come across a good German movie with good German subtitles ?
I have seen several PAL movies/cartoons where the spoken German and Subtitles don't match and for somebody trying to learn the language is not very helpful.

Die bitteren Tränen der Petra von Kant is at once bad and good.
Vier Minuten is just good.

Useful thread.
I'm amazed no one was mentioned this one yet, M (1931), Director Fritz Lang (also known for the timeless Metropolis).
Despite the age, it is one of the best films I have ever seen in my entire life, and is a classic of cinema!
I also enjoyed,
Das Boot
Das Leben der Anderen
Lola Rennt
Der Untergang
Fitzcarraldo
While, I wouldn't recommend Zwartboek for its German, it is a very good film indeed.
Thanks for all the other recommendations in this thread.

Jenseits der Stille is very well done. If you'd like to see a children's film, Bibi Blocksberg and the following Bibi Blocksberg und das Geheimnis der blauen Eulen are cute. For animation, I liked Felidae.
