"listening-reading system?"

Here is the audio I plan to use:
Dracula Audiolibro

Here is the book in Spanish I plan to use:
Dracula

Here is the English version:
Dracula

Basically I was wondering if someone could listen to a clip of the audio and tell me if this is a good audio book to use for a beginner, before I spend the money on the books.

You know, this is a tough question. If you are a true beginner, you aren't going to understand anything right away. I've always thought that the "listening-reading" method would be much better for a high-beginner, low-intermediate than a raw beginner. I would recommend a course like Pimsleur or Assimil first, then I would recommend attacking adult literature. It only takes a couple of months to go through Pimsleur or Assimil, and I think that it would alleviate the tendency to become very frustrated by "diving into the deep end" right away.

I'm by no means an expert on the topic, so take what I've said with a huge grain of salt. But there are several multi-lingual posters here whose judgement I trust, who I think would agree with the above.

On a side note: If you need interesting audio material, check out audible.com. Quite a few offerings in Spanish, and the initial 3 month membership is only $7.95 US per month, which you can cancel anytime. This will get you 3 full audiobooks for less than 25 dollars - not a bad deal.

It seems like a good system. A way to immerse yourself in the language on your own.

Anyone with some feedback?

Where do you see the free text? I can't find it. That would save me some money.
