I have the recording from Stephen Daitz for books 1 through 6. Is is legal to share the audio? There is a copyright on the sleeve of the package, but how can this be so? Isn't the copyright cutoff point sometime in the 1920s?

I don't know very much about US copyright law, but check the copyright date for the recording. The Iliad may be copyright-free, but the audio might not be. And generally the copyright stays until X years after the author's death. (50 in many countries, but US has 70 for some books, I believe)
