Lack of concentration / depression / pain

I have a problem...
I am depressed, nothing really makes me happy.. I cannot eat and sleep normally...
My situations and bad energy has made my love relationship break.. My loved one
couldn't help me, and we broke up... It is very hard... 4 years of relationship, love..
and even living together for a while...

Maybe this is not the right place for this kind of problem, but however, I will try to
help myself feel better and become stronger..

But this makes me so weak, and I am never concentrated on my Italian lessons and
learning.. Sometimes I try to learn new words, or grammar or repeat what I have already
learned, but I am not concentrated.. I just can't do it...
I asked my professor to stop with classes (I go 2 times a week), because I never repeat
what we did, and I'm not able to follow her and learn new things...
I'm afraid this period will make my Italian worse than it was before...
Has anybody been in that kind of bad period ???? How to focus on learning every day
when
your life is stuck and your negative emotions are so strong???
Should I try hard, or should I make a break and start again when I feel better... :(

Two things:
a)don't stay at home, but keep yourself engaged with your teacher or other people (if you have a job, that's helpful too)
b)do physical activity every day

If you've been stuck for more than a couple of weeks with no improvement, you should seek a medical professional.

For depression, see a good doctor. Internet forums can't help you with medical problems, because (a) few of us are experts, and (b) even if some of us were experts, we haven't diagnosed you in person. Seriously, there's no substitute for hands-on knowledge about you, personally. Even experts give lousy advice if they have only generalities to go on, and not actual data.

That's not entirely true. The only thing lacking in what he wrote for a diagnosis of depression is the precise duration of his unease. Which is having been stuck with those symptoms every or most days for the past two weeks.

I agree that he needs to see a doctor (but for different reasons), but meanwhile some behavioral suggestions can help. In many european countries is hard to get an appointment in a couple of days.

Emk is right, seek help from your doctor right away.

But drygramul's advice will be helpful while you wait for an appointment. Get out, try to
interact.

As for your question about starting or stopping, that's a good one to discuss with your
doctor. Don't feel bad if you need to quit for a while. On the positive side, that will
give you an opportunity to start fresh when you are feeling better.

See your doctor.

Truth be told, progress of your Italian is the least of your problems right now. If you wish to continue because
you find it a good way to occupy yourself, choose activities you can somehow enjoy given your condition. If
you don't enjoy classes and "real studying", try fun activities and immersion. Music is a great way to relax and
to stay in touch with a language. Books,movies, pc games, anything you can find fun.

And don't worry about your Italian. Once your condition is being treated in any way you and your doctor will
find appropriate, you're gonna catch up for sure ;-)

Of course you must seek professional help, but in the meantime there are some
commonsense things you can try which should do no harm and may do some good.

You may not have much appetite, but try to make everything you do eat as healthful as
possible. Eliminate anything you know to be "junk".

Try to remove anything which may be preventing your sleeping, e.g. not too much mental
stimulation late at night...switch off computers and TVs well before bedtime. Perhaps
play some soft, soothing music quietly instead. Warm milk and honey may help.

Try to take a little exercise out in the fresh air each day; if it's sunny, so much the
better.

Don't worry about the studying, but instead, perhaps find some fun Italian films to
enjoy on DVD, or some Italian music, or go and have an Italian meal: take a friend,
neighbour, colleague or family member.

If you know someone who is worse off or unhappier than you, try to do something for
them which will help them or make them happier. Making them happier will make you
happier.

If you can think of any people within easy reach who make you smile just by thinking of
them, try to spend as much time as possible in their company or in the company of
people like them.
