Assimil Experiment: El Catalán sin esfuerzo - Day 31 - Lesson 31
Today's lesson wasn't as easy as yesterday's, but it's not clear for me whether my problem was lack of concentration due to having sometimes my child around me :-))
Anyway, I'm starting to feel more relaxed, let's just see how good this course will be and, if needed, we may always fix whatever is missing later on.
Time required for individual lessons (minutes)
Vint-i-nou (29) = 41
Trenta (30) = 28
Trenta-una (31) = 20
Total time for groups of lessons (hours)
1 to 7 = 2.1
8 to 14 = 3.1
15 to 21 = 2.8
22 to 28 = 3.8
I would add about 1.0 hour for each group due to repetitions during commute.
Total time
1 to 28 = 15.8 hours

Assimil Experiment: El Catalán sin esfuerzo - Day 32 - Lesson 32
Today I've started with the dictation activity. Indeed, it should have been two lessons earlier, but for various reasons it was impossible. Anyway, this seems to be a GREAT idea. Thanks again to Marishka.
For me, it is necessary to pause the audio, though, because I'm not a fast note taking person, even more in a foreign language. That said, it also seems to prove that the Assimil speech pace is not soooo boringly slow :-)

Nothing remarkable about this lesson. I'll wait some further dictation sessions to say something more about this activity.

Assimil Experiment: El Catalán sin esfuerzo - Day 34 - Lesson 34
Another number of words "record". This time, after first listening it wasn't very good, after second listening my understanding improved a lot and everything was clear after reading the Catalan text. That said, it seems that something must have been learned during this experiment.
Anyway, my school-less-due-to-vacation-child didn't allow me to do the lesson in the morning and even now it has been an intermitent lesson ...

That certainly sounds like a great idea! Why didn't I think of it? I intend to take it into practice this week.

Assimil Experiment: El Catalán sin esfuerzo - Day 35 - Lesson 35
Fifth review. They say that you should do all previous lessons again. What? Well, I'll keep doing dictation and that's all folks, lesson 36 tomorrow.
Anyway, half the passive journey and I'm enjoying and learning it without much effort. Yes, this is an easy language for a Romance speaker, ok.
However, some points are hard and this fifth review is about personal pronouns, which is VERY hard in Catalan, harder than in any other language that I know. I'll use my grammar book, "Catalan: A Comprehensive Grammar", by Wheeler, Yates and Dols, to study this subject.
Some data about this course:
Time required for individual lessons (minutes)
Vint-i-nou (29) = 41
Trenta (30) = 28
Trenta-una (31) = 20
Trenta-dues (32) = 25
Trenta-tres (33) = 21
Trenta-quatre (34) = 23
Trenta-cinc (35) = 30
Total time for groups of lessons (hours)
1 to 7 = 2.1
8 to 14 = 3.1
15 to 21 = 2.8
22 to 28 = 3.8
29 to 35 = 3.1
I would add about 1.0 hour for each group due to repetitions during commute.
Total time
1 to 35 = 19.9 hours

When I read the post from Marishka, I've had exactly the same thought.

The first link doesn't work. I think I have figured everything now from the link to Marishka, though. Truly a great idea, this is something often neglected but immensely helpful. But I doubt many people outside HTLAL would do it -- I tried to do a little dictation in a class for university professors and they almost kicked me out :)
