Lol, it very much looks like a toffee-apple, doesn't it? It must be something the Evil Queen cooked up for modern-
day Snow White, who happens to be a poor teenager working at a carnival. Or something. We can certainly attempt to have a Skype session tomorrow. To me it looks like the cover for some decent modern heavy metal/ scandinavian

Some Russian Idioms
Валять дурака Не валяй дурака! (You say this when someone says something stupid, or when someone is being lazy) Выходить сухим из воды (literally meaning “come dry out of the water.” You use it when someone gets away with a crime or doesn’t get punished for doing something wrong) Делать из мухи слона Не делай из мухи слона! (meaning don’t make a big deal out of things) Доверяй, но проверяй! (trust, but verify) Море по колено Мне море по колено! (lit. translation = the sea is below [my] knees. Used to describe a person who isn’t scared—the sea is below their knees so the water is not dangerous to them). Как гром среди ясного неба (lit. thunder coming from the sky. I.e. “out of the blue”) Как сыр в масле кататься (lit. cheese sliding/skating in butter—like English “living in a cloverfield,” used to refer to someone who has an easy life.) Марк, feel free to step in to correct if I got the meanings of any of these wrong. I don't want anyone running around saying something completely off on the account of my mistakes! Does "out of the blue" mean something unexpected and unpleasant? That's what как гром

Yes, it means something unexpected. However, it doesn't necessarily have to be a negative thing. I take it гром is interpreted with a negative connotation, then? 1 person has voted this message useful | |||
