Spanish: no particular reason, I really love the sounds, the culture, the music. It's relatively easy, usefull (for some future vacation of some sort). French: Sadly I don't know other shows at the moment, it's really the first show apart from the news I watch in French, but when I encounter something. Ok, this week was all about natural speech/slang/argot
I came across a great youtube channel Rachelsenglish, (or something lke that) in which she teaches more natural English, as it is spoken. Of course I already almost knew all the thing she said except for some idioms but still it was usefull. Et ça me fait penser, mon français, c'est probablement très formel, artificiel et pour comprendre les gens en parlant, je dois apprendre comment les gens parlent dans leur vie quotidienne: l'argot. Je déjà savais des mots comme «bagnol» pour «voiture» ou «boîte» pour une «disco» mais apperement les gens disent «ça roule?» au lieu de «comment ça va», «il est où» au lieu de «où est-il». Et aussi dans Pékin Express on dit «not» au lieu de notre, ou «met» au lieu de metre etc.. Pauv petit q jsuis! Heureusement j'aime l'argot. (beaucoup de au lie de la-dedans!) Und für deutsch muss ich das auch ein Mal machen... Ich habe nur jeden Tag die Nachrichten gesehen, Shame on me! Por Español he hecho algunas ejercicios de Assimil y he tratado ver las noticias de televición Españala, pero la gente hablan tanto rapido, pffff... And I have a question about Spanish por ejemplo: session is sesión with a s but relation is relación now since I pronounce si different from ci, how can one tell where to say sión and where ción? 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Yes, this is real French, ie. not the one you see on the books. French speakers are lazy and will mostly not invert verb/subject when asking a question (« Il est où ? », « Où tu vas ? ») or use "Est-ce que" (« est-ce que tu sais où il est ? » instead of « Sais-tu où il est » ; « est-ce que je lui dis ? » instead of « lui dis-je ? »). "Tough" sounds can also get dropped, it's easier not to insist too much on the latter syllable if it is requires more effort than the average, for instance -re ending words as you've noticed. I think it's not something you can easily reproduce without having been exposed to it (but I don't have much experience in languages as you can see in my profile); it's really natural when speaking Parisian French (and possibly others) at a rather fast pace. I suppose all the other languages have this characteristic as well, or something along these lines. But you now know that it is not necessary to insist too much on that kind of syllable in French. 3 persons have voted this message useful | |||

Ok, since I don´t have any clases for Spanish, like i have clases for French, English and German, there is noone/no one to correct my Spanish pronunciation. So I made a recording of me reading lección cinquenta y tres de Assimil l'espagnol sans peine.

Hey, cool that you're starting Spanish!
I agree, "Das Leben der Anderen" is a truly powerful film. I need to watch that one again sometime… Your English teacher sounds really annoying, and I have to admit I laughed when I read that you are deciding to go for an American accent partly because she hates it.
