Impressive work Amerykanka!
While you're scaling the heights of LOTR, I'm still wading through król maciuś pierwszy!
Thanks for the links (Gosiak's too).
Looking forward to your progress next year.

@Gosiak, dziękuję Ci bardzo - wszystkie audiobooks wyglądają super! Na pewno będę korzystała z nich
często w przyszłych latach! :)

@Mooby, dziękuję za poparcie! :) I am looking forward to reading your log this year - last year your entries
were always very interesting! Is Król Maciuś Pierwszy a fairy tale? I love Polish fairy tales!

My slight correction:

"dziękuję za poparcie"
"Poparcie" does not fit this context.
In Polish we have "wsparcie" and "poparcie" which both mean "support".

"Wsparcie" has a broader scope which includes things related to feelings, being there for somebody etc., "wspierać" means active participation in a process.
Common examples:
wsparcie moralne - moral support
wsparcie finansowe - financial support
wsparcie psychiczne - mental support

"Poparcie" does not have to be "active", it may mean that you are ok with the ideology, set of ideas, strategy (etc.) but you do not contribute yourself.

Popieram Partię Pracy, ale jej nie wspieram finansowo. - I support Labour Party but I don't donate any money to them.

udzielać poparcia - to give support
poparcie polityczne - political support

If you google "poparcie" first 4 suggestions will be related to "poparcie dla partii politycznych" (support for political parties).

"Dziękuję za wsparcie" is appropriate in your context.

I'm glad that you'll make good use of the audiobooks ;)

Bother, I always confuse "wsparcie" and "poparcie". Thanks for the correction!

So "poparcie" always refers to a disinterested sort of support? One of the online dictionaries I use lists
"przyczynić się do rozwoju, realizacji czegoś" as a meaning of "popierać/poprzeć", which sounds a little more
active.

Time for a quick study update!

POLISH
1 hour 30 minutes of flashcard organization

Dodałam kilkudziesiąt nowych wyrazów do Anki. Może lepiej powiedzieć, że były to stare wyrazy,
ponieważ wszystkie z nich już znajdowały się wśród moich papierowych fiszek. W każdym razie, organizacja
moich fiszek toczy się bez problemów!

SPANISH
2 hours 30 minutes of reading

I finished El Reino del Dragón de Oro! Now I have read three books in Spanish! I think El Reino del
Dragón de Oro
was a good book for me to read developmentally, but I didn't enjoy it particularly, and I
didn't agree with the philosophy of life presented therein. So I don't think I will be reading the third book in the
series, unless my library purchases it and I can borrow it for free.

I am VERY excited about having completed my THIRD book in Spanish! :)

Next I am going to read La Emperatriz de los Etéreos, but I can't start it yet because I am receiving it as
a Christmas present. ; )

It's definitely less active than "wspierać". Parties are supported by people who vote for them but it's just a declaration, often nothing more. Możesz popierać wprowadzenie jakiegoś zakazu (introduction of a ban of some sorts) but it does not mean that you will do anything yourself.
Potrzebuję wsparcia means I need some help.
Potrzebuję poparcia - I need a basis of "believers" that will hold my ideas for right and perfectly functional.

I wouldn't say it's always disinterested but surely in most cases.

Thank you for this explanation, especially your example sentences - they definitely clarified things! I suspect
that after more exposure I will understand the differences between these two words even better, but now I
have a basic understanding of the distinction and hopefully I won't confuse them as much anymore!

I have a good example:

Nie popieram tego co robi, ale będę go zawsze wspierać, ponieważ jest moim przyjacielem.
