Wow, I just found your log, very interesting!
I've been on a different path with my Spanish, but I recently shifted back to FSI.
I try to listen to Voice of America Buenos días América's podcast each week day. It
does't have a transcript I can find, but it is simple Spanish, and it is very predictable
what they will talk about. I listen to it on tunein radio on my phone.
I've been thinking about reading the Bible too. I could go through one of those, read
the bible in a year plans, or something like that.
Anyway, great log; I'll continue to watch it with interest :-)

Thanks for posting sfuqua.
I want to give a quick plug for an app I bought sometime ago that has been terrffic. I
believe it's a good alternative to creating your own Anki deck. I've read that others
have created their own decks, but to me that just sounds too painful and time
consuming.
The program is the "Spanish Complete" from Brainscape. It costs $20 and has five units,
comprised of 60 decks and 9,165 different cards. Each card is presented in English and
you have to translate it in your head into Spanish. When you flip the card, the verb,
phrase, etc are spoken by a native Spanish speaker. I think this is very useful.
My version has 4 units:
Spanish Sentence Builder- Small sentences that introduce vocabulary.
Spanish Vocabulary - Most used first and then branches out into different areas
Spanish Verbs - 189 verbs conjugated in 9 different tenses (9 decks with 1 tense per
deck per verb)
Business Spanish - About 2,000 cards with different business terms as well as countries
and nationalities
I do wish there were photos and the option to turn off the English phrases.

Yes, I can concur that creating your own Anki decks is time-consuming! I switched to using Memrise/readlang. Not AS good because only Reading has the ability to save phrases and with Memrise you rely on material other people have created - which is mostly 1 word translations!
With individual language learning it often seems to be a case of making do with what you've got - unless your willing to splash out.

After much toiling, and prayer. I have finally completed Unit 29. I thought that I
would either go mad or never be able to get the unit down, but here I am after hitting
about a 95% accuracy rate on the unit. Déselo a ellos. That's right. I just said Déselo
a ellos. "What did I say?" you ask. Why, I said, "Give that to them." Yes sirree Bob.
Time to take a deep breath, relax a moment, and get ready to finish out the Review of
the first two books. To me, this is a great achievement. It has taken me since last
November to get this far, with extended family visits, moving house and changing jobs
at work during this time. I thank Jesus for getting me this far.
Now, almost two books in, I have found that I speak faster and know more. However, and
that's a BIG however, I have a long way to go. I definitely want to find some more
opportunities to hear Spanish speakers speaking the language naturally. I have been
listening to the Bible in Spanish (RVR 1960 and reading both it and the RVR
Contemporaneo), which meets one of my goals/needs. However, I will most often encounter
Latin Americans and not Spaniards. So, though listening and reading the Bible is
something I will continue, I need to accustom myself to large amounts of Latin American
speech. I suppose that I could listen/watch Destinos all the way through (I've finished
the first 35 episodes). I've even listened to people read books and speak on the radio
in that "radio voice" that all announcers put on. I want something else. What about
natural conversation?
What I'm looking for are friends who are speaking about things that interest them in a
casual, relaxed manner. I prefer Latin American accents. I prefer not to listen to
podcasts that follow only a political theme.

I have created and shared an Anki deck for FSI Basic Spanish Unit 30. It contains all of
the lines of conversation, as well as the new vocabulary. I did not put definitions for
cognates
like "fenomenal" or "valiente," as these are obvious and I didn't want to confuse
spelling.

Notes in Spanish is *almost* what you're looking for: casual, friendly conversation about a wide variety of topics.
Intermediate and advanced podcasts are about 10 minutes long, and I found them very interesting - interesting
enough to listen to each one several times. But the accent is from Spain. Is that a deal-breaker for you?

Hóla Stelle. Desafortunadamente sí. No creo que voy a conocer a nadie de España. Vivo en
el sur de Los Estados Unidos. La mayoridad de gente en el sur de los Estados Unidos son
de América Latina. También no quiero hablar como campesino.
Recientamente he econtrado una estación de radio sobre el fútbol. Me gusta mucho el
fútbol y la gente que hablan son de América Latina. Gracias por su ayuda.

unfortunately there seem to be very few Latin American podcasts. I find it somewhat amazing. I have searched and searched, but almost everything seems to be from Spain. voanoticias.com is what I settled on. I just listen to the news every day.
That being said, I don't think "Spain Spanish" podcasts are always that bad in terms of the accent. Many times the accents seem quite neutral to me and often I cannot even detect the accent.
