Esto multiplica un mil.(I don't know if Spanish people actually use this term like we do on English message boards.) :) La conversación me pasa mientras pienso de definiciones de las palabras. Voy a continuar utilizando la técnica de Iversen. Busqué (should I use another form of past tense here?) a la definición de unas palabras en su mensaje (I have never heard or seen the word "Ritmo" for example). Can someone please explain Iverson's technique and/or post a link to a description? I have searched and have found very little by way of an actual explanation for this technique.

Not much of an update but I did spend two hours listening while reading a book last night. It was a nice change of pace. I tried to incorporate Iversen's listening while doing this. It is funny how hard I have to work at NOT translating the words in my mind while seeing and hearing the Spanish. I just focused on listening where the words ended and began while following along. After I was able to control my trying to translate everything, it was quite relaxing.
Also, I reviewed my notes at home and I have crossed the 200 hr mark in my studies. I don't know if I will reach my goal of 450 hrs by years end but I am learning to let that go. "La conversación me pasa mientras pienso de definiciones de las palabras." -Yo diría que la conversación "se me va" o que "se me escapa" mientras pienso "en" las definiciones. Con "pensar" se usa la preposición "en" para decir que estás dedicando tus pensamientos a esa cosa. "De" se usa más para hablar de la opinión que tienes de algo, por ejemplo "¿Qué piensas de mí?" (Pienso que eres muy interesante, etc.) o "¿Qué piensas de la Guerra en Iraq?" (Pienso que está mal, está bien, etc.) Si no es una opinión sino el tema de tus pensamientos, usa siempre "en": "¿En qué piensas?" "Estoy pensando en ti, en la Guerra de Irak, en mi trabajo, etc." "Busqué a la definición de unas palabras en su mensaje" -Está bien el tiempo verbal aquí (el pretérito), pero "buscar" ya encierra nuestra preposición "for" en el verbo preposicional "to look for". Así que no hace falta la "a": "Busqué la definición de (alg)unas palabras..." "Gracias por sus contribuciones." -Cuando me hablas a mí o a cualquiera de este foro, en general se tuteará (es decir, utilizamos las formas de "tú", no de "usted"), yo personalmente preferiría que me tutearas. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

A ti te pregunto - eres tan fuerte en otros idiomas como el español? ¿Te ha gustado estudiar gramática en Inglés también? Also, sorry about not using the "tu" form. Sometimes I still associate "su/sus" with "your" regardless of the familiarity. ( tu= you and su= your...silly I know but my mind goes there every time.) 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

El castellano es el idioma (extranjero) que mejor domino (aunque eso no quiere decir que mi castellano sea ni mucho menos perfecto), desafortunadamente aparte del chino no he tenido la oportunidad de hablar los otros idiomas que estudio y por eso no me he esforzado tanto en ellos, entiendo mucho más de lo que puedo decir. Y ahora que no hablo mucho el castellano se me está haciendo más difícil hablar en castellano, también :/
También he estudiado la gramática de inglés (en la escuela y más tarde por mi cuenta). Cuando era más pequeñx creo que no me interesaba mucho, pero cuando empezamos a estudiar idiomas extranjeros el inglés empezó a parecerme más interesante, sobre todo como usamos los verbos (los tiempos gramaticales) que me parecía y me sigue pareciendo bastante complejo. Y es interesante lo que dices, para mí me siento un poco rarx cuando le trato a alguien de usted (o me tratan a mí de usted), lo primero que pienso cuando oigo "su" es "his/her/its" y lo mismo con las terminaciones de tercera persona ;) Edited by Crush on 26 August 2014 at 7:42am 1 person has voted this message useful |
