And this on the local Red Cross shop/office is a good inspirational message for us French learners ;-)

Thanks you very much for a detailed reply redflag. I really appreciate that. It does help to give some insight
on what it's like there. Expensive = confirmed (as far as beach holidays go), no overtly obvious racial issues
from a tourist perspective, plenty of decent French language exposure, and nice scenery to explore, decent
restaurants that aren't necessarily cheap.
cheers :)
I really do want to go there in the nearish future, but I prob would prefer a 2 week holiday with plenty of time
to explore the island by car too.
Thanks again redflag! Nice pix btw :)

Pas de problème. Of course the plunging AUD didn't help the cost, hopefully when you go we are back at parity. ;-)

C'est vrai, mon ami. (Concernant l'image de la Croix-Rouge).

French:
Today on a flyer I sent out some messages to French people learning English and
looking for language exchange on iTalki. We'll see what happens.
I'm starting a casual 45m conversation class tomorrow afternoon at Alliance Francaise.
I think I should prepare a few basic things in advance, maybe something about my
recent holiday, so I at at least have a couple of sentences that aren't too shamefully
bad. It's "All levels welcome so it'll be interesting to see how it works.
Tonight I'll probably finish the whole of McGraw Hill's Practice Makes Perfect: Basic
French book. So that's one ticked off the list. I think next I'm going to do Barron's
Pronounce it Perfectly in French next, a couple of pages a night depending on the
content.
I've become a bit dedicated to a French iPhone game (not sure if there is an Android
version. It's free but you can buy credits in-game to get clues) called '4 Images, 1
Mot'. As the name suggests there are 4 pictures and you have to guess the one word
that can describe them all. They give you the length of the word and a selection of
letters. Most of the words are very simple ones but I do really like to see the
different ways they can be used. I also downloaded a few other French word puzzle
games.

Thanks for that app suggestion. I found 3 different free versions in the Kindle store (the one I've downloaded was made by LOTUM GmbH).
This makes me realize that we need a list of apps on our resource list as well. I probably should have included app in the list of favourites.

Yes, that's the one I have as well. I've also tried a few of the fléches games, I think "iMotsFleches" is the best (again
iPhone.)
I left my Basic French book at work so I won't finish it tonight so I'm watching the latest Qui veut gagner des millions
instead.

Well, the conversation class last night at Alliance Francaise was cancelled but I turned
up anyway since I didn't get the message they left for me about it.
Apart from watching game shows and Engrenages I have been very lazy the last couple of
days. ;-(
