Most moocs don't count for anything, except for your own satisfaction at learning something and completing the course. Think of them more as "taster" courses than full university courses. If you complete the course as an auditing student, you get a certificate. You can pay a bit of money to have your identity verified, but that's no proof that you've taken the course honestly. There are some sets of mooc courses that result in more than a certificate, if you take a series of courses. But I don't know that any employer would think any more of it than if you read a few books.
As far as what the teachers know, they have tens of thousands of students signing up for some of these courses. They know that most people who sign up don't even start the first lesson, and most people who start the lesson don't go past the first lesson. If I remember correctly, usually about 20% of the students who start the courses actually finish them.

Guys, I found an online French film festival, open only from Jan 16 to Feb 16. It's free if you sign up through FB or Twitter and it has many films. It could be useful to improve your listening comprehension!

Ça a l'air intéressant.

Hi dear francophones!
I would like to suggest you guys a challenge. It inspired me for the Scandinavian Team Sleipnir, but it is essentially French: it's the challenge COmme d'Habitude, that is, people would base on the patterns of the lyrics from the well-know song Comme d'Habitude and describe their daily routine. Beginners could follow the lyrics more strictly while experienced learners could divague more. Qu'en pensez-vous?

Is this more or less the February challenge? Should responses be posted in personal logs or
in this thread?
At first I was like, he stole Frank's song! Then it was like, Frank... stole his song?
I can't explain how much this would distress some of my friends.
