In this thread, I will write about my Italian studies. I am learning this language because of my interest in Italian
opera, and my goal is to be able to understand operatic lyrics while listening along.
These will be the materials I will use for the next 6 weeks:
Duolingo, getting at least 50 exp. every day.
Instant Italian by Teach Yourself. I found this useful in my early Portuguese studies.
Pimsleur I. Definitely going to finnish Pimsleur I before december, by doing 4-5 lessons a week.
I will also use Anki for the vocabulary in Instant Italian.
While studying Italian, I will also listen and read along to easy Portuguese audio books. I am currently a high A2
in Portuguese and have the opportunity to speak it a lot. I hope it won't hurt, to study a so close related language
like Italian already, with my Portuguese not being that good yet. I'd appreciate your opinions and advice on this
matter.

Seems like a good plan, so I can't offer advice only encouragement! Good luck and keep us posted.

Thank you!
So far I really love studying Italian. I already understand a lot because of its similarity to Portuguese.
Today I found this book:
It seems a lot better than the Instant Italian by Teach yourself, so starting next week I'm going to include it in my
material list. I want to finish it before the end of the year, so I will work 3 hours each week with it.
So far I'm at lesson 5 in Pimsleur, and I got 400 XP's in duolingo so far this week.
Here is my duolingo profile btw.: https://www.duolingo.com/clmns
I am also using Instant Italian every day but at this point everything is extremely easy, so I really just glance over
the pages. I hope it gets more challenging with time.

Buon giorno!
So today morning I did some duolingo lessons. It's getting pretty dull. In the beginning I used to get over 200
XP's a day and now it is a pain just to get the promised 50.
I just found this website: http://onlineitalianclub.com/ and they have a Italian level test which I tried out. I
expected to do really bad but I could answer a good share of questions correctly. The results estimate me as a Low-
Intermediate, which is of course ridiculous since I only study since 1 week.
For the rest of the day I will do another Pimsleur and maybe a few duolingo lessons.
Arrividerci!

My first week of studying Italian is over!
This week I got 589 XP in Duolingo, I will try to beat this next week. I did 5 lessons of Pimsleur and will probably
do another one today. Im starting to get a good feel for the language, yesterday I was in La Traviata and I could
understand a few more words or phrases that would usually go unnoticed.
I know this Thread is an Italian journal but I will once in a while write here what I am doing for my Portuguese.
Everyday I'm reading and listening to one of those audiobooks about the kings of Portugal:
http://cvc.instituto-camoes.pt/aprender-portugues/a-ler/era- uma-vez-um-rei.html
They are very easy and comprehensive. Even I don't understand all the words I feel like I understand 100% of the
story anyway.
I also use a Memrise course for advanced Portuguese words which was exactly what I needed. I spent so much
time with this language without putting a lot of work in learning vocabulary which put me in an awkward position
in which I feel more or less comfortable using the language but always having blank spots in my speech because
so many words are missing.
É todo para esta semana, até logo!

Buonasera!
Today this came in the mail!
This is exactly what I was looking for. A textbook that isn't just going to teach me how to book a hotel room, but
has topics that are relevant for me!
But for now I will stick with the material I said I'd use until the end of november. In december I will start working
with this book then.

Hi, heres a small update.
This week I'm a bit behind on my Pimsleur game. I have to do at least 4 this week.
Duolingo is going good, getting at least 50 XP's a day, today aroung 70.
so far I did 2 lessons of 30 Stunden Italienisch für Anfänger. It is very big on grammar, which I'm not too big of a
fan of especially in this stage of language learning. I'm gonna stick with it for now though.
Now I'm gonna review my Anki.
Until soon.

Ok, I finally did my first Pimsleur of this week. I won't be able to catch up though. Hopefully I can do 1-2 more until
the week is done.
Now onto some Duolingo.
