I found both Aronson's and Hewitt's explanations on present perfect and pluperfect rather confusing. If you want just a sketch, try armazi.co.uk . I'm longing for Tschenkéli's explanation on this which will hopefully shed some light

Tou won't believe how much clear things get when I read them from Tschenkéli's book, I really should translate it. Today's lesson about preverbs taught me so many things. I can see the big picture now, one thing the anglophone authors never do. They focus too much on morphology and less on usage.

You can also try Georgian: A Structural Reference Grammar on its chapter about perfect and pluperfect. Pity that it uses transcription and again focuses too much on morphology.

I want to write a story in Georgian about a dream that I had, but it's really hard! I'm
going to have to do a little research first...I don't know how to say "I dreamt," so
that's kind of a problem! (This is the story I told you about yesterday, Expugnator).

I hope this makes sense...A lot of it was just a stab in the dark! :X

Note: I wasn't sure how to say "if," as in "I dont know if we spoke well." And that's frustrating because I just
learned how to say it in Russian, so I want to know it in Georgian too! In Russian I believe it would be, "Я не
знаю, говорили ли мы хорошо." That might be off, but the point is they have the "ли" and I don't know how
to do that in Georgian.

It's either თუ or რომ, can't recall exactly the usage now, there's a trick just like there's wether X if in English. And "...or not" is probably თუ არა . There's something about it in Hewitt, better than in Aronson.

Yeah, at first I wrote "rom" but I changed it. I'll try to look it up.

Unreal conditions - რომ, subjunctive, conditional:

პეტრე რომ დაწერდეს წერილს, მე ახლავე გავგზავნიდი მას.
If Peter wrote the letter, I'd immediately write him.

Real conditions - თუ, future, future:

თქვენ თუ დაწერდე წერილს, მე ახლავე გავგზავნი მას.
If you (will) write the sentence, I will soon send it.

In the second example it refers to the future, that is, you are certain it's something that's gonna happen. In Portuguese we have a future subjunctive for that - "Se você escrever a carta, eu a enviarei".

Tomorrow I'll read about the difference between Present and Future Subjunctive in Georgian. Stay tuned for scenes from our next episode =D
