But in the sentence i wrote it's not really a conditional. I basically said, "I don't know whether we spoke well."

Yeah now I remember it. I just tried to come up with situations when you use რომ and when you use თუ.
From translate.ge whether - 1) conjunction ხომ, განა, ნუთუ; whether or no - ასე თუ ისე; whether he is here or not - ის აქ არის თუ არა; 2) pronoun {მოძვ} ორთა შორის რომელი. I'd say "არ ვიცი, თქვენ რომ კარგად ვილაპარაკეთ თუ არა", maybe take რომ away, as you can see in the example, no რომ. 2 persons have voted this message useful | |

It's up to you =D after all, you're the one who "witnessed" the "fact" and you can say whether it was punctual or ongoing. It's better to use ვლაპარაკობდით if you want to focus on the ongoing aspect of the activity, indeed.

Well I guess since we were talking for a long time it should be in the imperfect. Because using the aorist it

What I got from the native speaker I asked:
მე არ ვიცი კარგად ვსაუბრობთ თუ არა. He said რომ is optional at the subordinate clause (2nd element) მე არ ვიცი, კარგად რომ ვსაუბრობთ თუ არა. He used the present but I think it's ok to say ვსაუბრობდით or even ვლაპარაკობდით . I feel that 2013 will be a great Georgian year =D And maybe even good for Russian too. As for Aronson, I have been focusing more on Russian for the 6wc, so I haven't gotten around to it lately, but now that you mention it, I will try to finish it this week. Two weeks is fine! I've come to a point at ACC at which they explain difficult topics
summarily and then bring on exercises, so I'm progressing quite low at that book, and I hope to have finished it before we start the Russian book. 1 person has voted this message useful |
