All right! It has been roughly a month since I began this adventure and I have to say I am very pleased with the results! Periodically whole sentences jump out at me and I know just what is going on...every so often, whole blocks of radio/songs I understand. I can now go to the "Libros en Espanol" section and look through the books and know (for the most part) what I am looking at. Very fun! One day at a time...
I am still listening to radio stations (La Lay out of 92.5 is probably the best in this area) and enjoy it during the non-study times...polka type music is not my top choice, though...;-) Fortunately there are other alterantives.
Got the first FSI course (good call on the source on this link...less than $20!)and quickly began converting it to digital (play your tape player into the "line-in" plug in the back of the computer and use the freeware Audacity to convert it to mp3's).
Making flash cards, reading novels (enjoying "El Hobbit" right now ;-) and learning more each day...what a brain stretching experience it is! ;-)

Thanks! Yeah, actually, I've downloaded a lot of that, but for some reason the ones that I ordered have just a little more explanation and they have the accompanying text book that part 1 didn't have...so I'm really using both.
But that is a great link that I've been using so far...good point.

Spanish LEARNING FREEWARE
Free Spanish Learning Software, seems to be predominately in the "games" format.
wordsgalore
buensoft
learn Spanish and speak espanol
selingua
That's all I found in a very quick search...I'll give 'em a try!
Edit: They are all good!
Buensoft is easily the most fun, with the best variation of games...very neat!
Wordsgalore has some very cool "flashcard" type effects...for example, you can make a list, then tell it that you want mp3 files for all those on the list and it then creates each file with the English then Spanish translation (or whichever language selected)...Good stuff!

FLASH CARD FREEWARE
Free Software for Making Flashcards
I'll give each of them a shot...I only need one of them to work, though...;-)
lingvsoft this one required an email address, but is free
studyminder flash cards
flash card master
Edit: Yeah, not impressed with any of these. And a friend brought up the biggest point with this software: it helps in the learning process to write it down...that was a "d'uh!" moment! Back to the old school method!
Edit again: trip to the local teacher's supply store...no problem! Really nice flash cards, 200 of them for $19...

Ok, everyone, help me out, please.
I'm looking for free e-books in Spanish for Kids.
Anyone have any good links? Pretty please?
Edit:
Thought this one might be good for a new thread, so started one here.
