February's almost over.
Also, welcome to the team, misskj! I've added your log :) |

OMG I love 藤田麻衣子!! which song are you going to do Woodsei?! I would have chosen one of those
but I know her songs by heart and that would have felt like cheating haha.
And thanks for the welcome!

二人の彼 :D
It was very hard making a selection, all of her songs are so beautiful, but this one
was tugging at some heart strings :)

Yep. It's just being able to actively recall it yourself. No need for performing or
anything.
I love the theme song for Shingeki no Kyojin, btw. I would've put it down for the
challenge myself, but I already know it by heart from listening to it so many times :)
Good choice! |

I'm beginning to wish I'd chosen something slower :-) |

The chorus part gets a bit fast, but then the second part of the song has somewhat of a
longish wordless portion, so it might even things out in the end. :)

I've completed my Japanese challenge for February as well. Not only did I finally memorize
it, but I added in chorus 3 (which is really just a word swap in one pair of lines) and if I'm
paying enough attention I can recall both choruses at speed now! I honestly didn't expect to
achieve "at speed" with the Japanese part of my challenge, but once I finally memorized the
lines that were really giving me trouble, it just suddenly clicked and everything started
falling into place.
In retrospect, I should have picked a slightly more difficult song for Korean (even though I
thought I had picked one of appropriate difficulty since I knew none of the lyrics when I
started and only had 3 weeks) and a slightly easier song for Japanese, but it worked out
anyway since finishing the Korean challenge early allowed me to focus on the harder
Japanese challenge and complete it in time.

Wow...a lot of posts got eaten from this thread. My log only lost my latest update, which I
was able to recreate, but this thread and the Japanese from Scratch log lost a good bit of
conversation. :-/

What happened to the thread? We lost a good chunk of posts. :(
I saved this current version, in case the forum software messes it up more. Tch, it's
really upsetting. I'll try to re-post what I remember.
As for the challenge, it's 100 minutes. It's up to you to decide how you want it to be,
whether a total of 100 minutes the whole month, or over regular intervals, like
daily/weekly/biweekly, etc. It can also be either output or input based.
I hate it when things like that happen :((((

It seems mrwarper has a more recent backup with very minimal losses. I PMed him for the
files for our team thread and kraemder's log so we can restore most of the lost content
back. Here's to hoping it works out.

Btw, Iversen found out that the old server is still active. You can still access it by using the old IP address, for example the link to this thread:
http://62.50.91.152/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=39772&PN=1&TPN =30
But i actually came here to share another resource with Mandarin learners, a friend recently showed me a video series for Mandarin speakers studying Korean. It turns out it's hosted on a large site with tons of open courses (of varying quality):
http://open.163.com/
To anyone interested in the Korean course, you can access it here:
http://open.163.com/special/opencourse/korean.html
Not all of the courses are in Mandarin, some just have been subtitled, but there's still quite a bit to choose from.
