Great to hear that you're still going! As well as the grammar study, are you reading / listening to any Polish material?

Update!!!!!
Hey guys, writing a nice update on my Polish language learning, now I have got my internet back :) So I have decided to take a new approach to my learning. In the past Polish is something I learnt on and off , every now and again but, I have decided to go for proper active learning. I have now got a nice folder for all my paper resources and all my stuff is now organised. I am continuing with Hurra Po Polsku as I am getting to grips with the cases (the only thing I had problems with learning by ear) I have a post-it note on my folder as I have decided I need a real revamp to my learning I am taking a very intensive passive approach to get my listening/ understanding skill to where they used to be. I have separate resources for each skill, which in the past I have not done so some skills got more work than others. This is how my post-it looks. Listening: RMF FM - Radio Watching: Przygody Merlina (2 episodes per day) Reading: Szemptem Speaking and Writing are something I am working on to get resources for . It is tougher because they are active skills and I don't often get to write as it is. I know this blog was a bit long but I thought it would be nice to keep you guys updated. I wish I could organize myself that way! Usually I'll start out with good intentions and about 2 weeks later it will fall apart.
I really have a lot more resources now, but for me the hardest part was knowing where to look. Fortunately, I'm getting a lot of listening and exercises to do in my class, and I've even been able to find Polish films. So far this week I've seen 80 Milionów, Vinci, and Sala Samobójców (all of which are excellent films, but not exactly "feel good" movies!). By the way, my class is also using Hurra po polsku, so I'm very interested in what you think of it as a self-study book. 2 persons have voted this message useful | |

If you read other people's logs you will find about many great resources. You can also always ask for recommendations. It depends on what you're looking for. Books? Radio? TV? Films? Textbooks?
As for skills my advice is: listen and watch a lot to get better at listening, read a lot to get better at understanding written word, chat to natives or practice self-talk to get in the habit of talking ... you get the point :). And choose a textbook to go through, which you have already done. I don't usually watch modern Polish cinema as I don't hold it in much regard (especially comedies) but I was pleasantly surprised with Vinci. It really is a decent movie. I am lucky in the fact that I have a strong grasp of Polish, because I used it on a day
to day basis in my last year at high school with my friends. I think if you have a good foundation , the book shouldn't be too hard . However the book is also completely in Polish and does not give answers unless you have the companion teachers book. So for my situation it works ,but for say someone with little knowledge it would suggest other books to strengthen your foundations before using it. As a teachers textbook it is amazing I wish I had it when I decided to take the GCSE as the cases are clearly explained. 1 person has voted this message useful | |
