Ok, this time it was so hard I had to
link readers to lang-8. Most of my troubles are of grammar kind, which I can only fix by studyng it, but there were also quite a few vocabulary problems. It's plain impossible to find translations of some words like "to pirate" or "torrent" (as in the one introduced by BitTorrent). Well, no one said life is going to be easy. Maybe because it's a controversial term. Politicians and rightholders have coined the term "raubkopieren", which is completely stupid because of the implied meaning, and you cannot really use it other than in the infinitive and as a noun "das Raubkopieren". This is the word you would see in the anti- copyright message at the beginning of DVDs. Those who pirate might use "illegal downloaden" or "illegal (he)runterladen". But one usually doesn't specify if this action is illegal or not, those who do it don't care anyway. There is also the colloquial term "saugen" which just means "to download" in this context but usually implies using illegal downloads. 3 persons have voted this message useful | |||

Well I just expected that there's a word like piratieren or something, since Dutch and French developed their analogues (as wikitionary says). On the other hand, I guess Russian is in just the same position, we can define action (same as English piracy), but we
also don't have a verb for "to pirate". Eh, that moment when you think everything should be like it is in English and forget the situation in your native language. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

In Dutch "to torrent" is a verb (torrenten) but "to pirate" is not. Piracy is
"piraterij". Most people use "to torrent" to mean that they pirate things, or "illegaal downloaden" or "torrents gebruiken" (to use torrents). 2 persons have voted this message useful | |||

Perhaps one cannot fully rely on Wikitionary then.
My post from today was corrected on lang-8 (which is insane, given its length). There were so many mistakes (I don't even want to count how many), I just published the corrected version instead of fixing the original. Maybe 10 years later I will go to the page one of my blog just to see how bad my German once was.
