I just figured out yesterday that if I want to get my half Super Challenge in Hindi I will need to read about 10.3 pages per day, and to get my full Super Challenge in French I will have to read 10.7 pages per day. Last time I checked it was about 8 pages per day in each, so it's a reminder that procrastination is building a wall between me and success! It will be a bit of a stretch, but it's still possible to meet my targets in both languages. Now that I'm focusing a lot on Hindi my reading is getting better and better: last night I picked up an easy Hindi novel and read 16 pages in about 32 minutes. As for French, I've sort of put reading a lot in it until after my India trip, but since Assimil Sanskrit and Assimil Hindi are both in French I've kept in pretty good practice reading it.

When I was doing the first SC at one point I thought I wasn't going to make it for much the same reasons. In the end I started reading easier books, which allowed me to catchup and pass over the line just in time.

In hindsight this was good for other reasons too. There is something very empowering about reading a relatively easy book quickly, and there is an argument for balancing quantity and quality.

I definitely agree. Sometimes it is good to read easier things which helps to build pace, fluency and confidence.

Hi Jeffers,

I've been wondering for some time if you've come back from hoidays yet, and if you're
still learning and are up to speed with all the issues lately on HTLAL and are aware of
the alternative site.

You'll find it at how-to-learn-any-language.org

Hope you're going well and having a good break

PM
