So I worked on the story I had to write for my homework. *yay study* I will be going through with it tomorrow with my tutor, but in the mean time this is what it looks like before corrections (I had to use a bunch of vocab and I tried to make it a mix of the various tenses so the first paragraph I didn't really know how to use some of the vocab so that's why it will probably seem a bit weirdly inserted).
Moj otac često išao je u Italiji. On nije trebao vizu i nije dobijeo vakcinu kad je išao do te zemlje ili, možda nije voleo da potrošim svoj novca? Rekao je mojem majkom u pismo na prvo put "Ja sam sada u Italiji. Ovde je topao, ne nosim kaput, ne treba ga. Jos, želim da kupim nove odece jer ovde je jeftina. Ali sada, treba da tražim za hotel ili neka vrsta smeštaja jer uskoro bude noć. Nema mnogo novca ali nadam se da dobijem jeftini smeštaj. Ne znam šta ja ću da radim sutra jer ne znam gde idem, ali probaću da tražim turističku agenciju". Posle neka vrema, moja mama dobijeo je pismo i čitala njegovu poruku. Nije voleo da moj otac nije planirao svoj put. "Iduće vremena, on će da rezerviše hotel pre put. Kako može da ide bez dobre informacije? So, when I can be bothered - I use the following textbook http://www.amazon.com/Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian-Textbook-Exer cises/dp/0299236544/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1? ie=UTF8&qi d=1432357426&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=bcs+bosnian+serbian. From what I've noticed online of the few others that study BCS, this seems to be a favourite. With my tutor, I believe the name of the book she's using is "ucimo srpski" and from that she's started giving me "homework" to do. I find that I am more inclined to do this than trying bring up my own motivation which is sorely lacking at the moment. As for my progress, it's so-so. As I guess is typical nowadays, my writing and reading skills far excel my listening and speaking abilities. I often for example not "hear" the tense of what someone is saying. So I'll confuse "will you read?" for "have you read?" with weird frequency and when it comes to speaking of course I of course make many grammatical errors, for more slip through than if I was writing something. Yes, I have that BCS textbook too and I think it's really great, although sometimes it's
so comprehensive it makes my head hurt :) I haven't seen the 'Učimo srpski' book before, will have to investigate! I made a Memrise course to learn all the vocabulary from the BCS book, but I only put the Croatian words in (and ijekavian spellings) so probably not much use to you. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Yes, I saw that course - I was tempted to use it but yeah I saw the spellings so I've
just ended up manually putting it all into my anki deck which is serving me fine for now I guess - I just need to go out there and hunt for more vocab! :) 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

OK, so I've basically ended my 4 week challenge and though the updates were not as comprehensive as they
should've been, let me summarise what I've done thus far. Quick Summary: # 10 hours of speaking practiced - PASSED # 30 mins of studying per day - FAILED With my main tutor I had 5 lessons this month followed by 2 with other tutors bringing it to a total of a bit over 6 hours. Supplemented with this I have been doing a language exchange with someone for an additional hour or so for the last 3 weeks or so bringing me to about 10 hours of speaking practice. The studying of my textbook has been near non existent, if I include the study I've been doing for my lessons with my tutor, it would be still less than a few hours. I think for now I need to put the textbook down, and come back to it at some other point as for now it's obvious I am not interested in reviving this habit. So, what will I do instead? Well, it's the beginning of a new month tomorrow and so I am going to begin a 7 month challenge (from June to the end of the year). I'll detail it more in that log but the gist of my new goal is the following: # Continue having at least 1 lesson a week with my tutor # Continue doing my Glossika course # Continue to review and add words to Anki # **NEW** Write at least 100 words everyday at Lang-8 # **NEW** Watch at least 1 Serbian movie a week (Subtitles in English allowed) See you all in the new log! 2 persons have voted this message useful |
