Hi Everyone! I am still quite the newcomer to this forum even though I have had an
account for a while and this will be my first time taking on the Output Challenge, so I'll occasionally keep a log of my progress here (I hope this is the way to do it, if I should post my Output Challenge progress elsewhere, please let me know). Also, I'd like to talk about my general goals in learning Dutch and the reason why I started in the first place. Language Learning has become an important hobby for me, because it has connected me with all kinds of people from around the world. I used to be an extremely shy person and would barely talk to anyone who wasn't super close to me. I still have a bit of shyness, but learning new languages has opened me up significantly and I feel more excited rather than nervous when getting to know new people. My journey began when I first started learning German in High School. At that time, German was simply a requirement I needed to graduate, but as time went by, I began to fall in love with the language. From there I continued to learn German through High School and the University while picking up a couple other languages along the way. My story is much longer than this, but let's hop into the main topic which is why I started learning Dutch. It has partly to do with the fact that I know German, which is a great basis for Dutch, since the vocabulary and grammar resemble one another quite closely; there are similarities to English as well. I was also inspired by two of my good friends who come from the Netherlands, who are some of the kindest people I have ever met. The fact that both of them are extremely talented with languages and hearing them speak Dutch, which sounded so cool to me, inspired me to learn Dutch. I feel my progress through the language is moving at a reasonable yet quick pace. I am satisfied with myself and have learned a lot in just a couple months. My future plans to learn dutch will include a combination of many different habits and resources. Michel Thomas Method - I have already completed the full course, but will review it occasionally. Assimil - I have barely started this one, but it looks interesting and I would like to complete it. I am thinking one lesson per day would be doable. ItalkI Skype Lessons - I have recently hired a tutor online from this website and I am finding her lesson to be quite useful. I tend to learn best when taught by someone and she does well in explaining grammar and demonstrating pronunciation for me. Youtube - Here, I simply won't just watch videos, but also make them. I recently started a small channel where I occasionally upload videos documenting my language progress. I may include videos specifically for the Output Challenge in Dutch. My channel name is ShyLingoNerd (I know, cheesy). It's just for my hobby and is not monetized, so you shouldn't have to worry about ads. ;D Duolingo - I will use this for vocabulary review mostly. Duolingo is useful for that alone, in my opinion, as the robot voice and strange sentences don't help me learn the language that well. In addition to all the methods listed above, I will be using the many different websites, such as www.dutchgrammar.com to look up specifics about the language and I will practice regularly with writing here and other places as well. My speaking practice will come from Skype conversations and Youtube mostly. I am really excited to get going with my goals and I will try my best to keep focused. If anyone has any advice or resources that might help me, I would greatly appreciate it. You'll be hearing updates from me on my progress quite often, if I keep it up. I shall do my very best! Als eerste, zal ik iets over mij schrijven en ik zal niet in een woordenboek zien!
Mijn naam is Lee. Ik ben sesentwintig jaar. Ik kom uit de USA, maar ik woon nu in Japan als Engelse Leraar. Ik Leer in vijf schools met kinderen af tien jaar op vijftien. Ik hou veel van mijn werk, omdat het heel leuk is. Ik maak vaak veel spelen voor de kinderen. Ik ben in Japan van de laatste Augustus en blijf ik hier nog een Jaar. Ik weet nog niet of ik heel langer zou blijven, maar ik hou van de leven hier. Ik vind de mensen heel leuk, maar het kan een beetje moeilijk zijn om hier te werken, om dat ik steeds en het Japans moet spreken. Ik ken het Japans goed, maar het maakt me moe zo lang en het Japans te denken en spreken. Misschien is het en beetje van "Culture Shock;" Wat is het en het Nederlands? Het leven en een andere Land kan wel moeilijk zijn, maar het is heel belangrijk en mijn leven. Hoe is mijn geschrijvene Nederlands? Zeg me hoe ik het beter kan maken, aljeblieft. Gisteren heb ik mijn nederlandse challenge begonnen. Ik maakte een video om over deze challenge te
spreken. De video is op Youtube in mijn Kanaal "ShyLingoNerd." Hier is een link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiJC6G-nFr6n7SYTTjVL6gA Als je de tijd heeft, kijk het aljeblieft en zeg mij wat je denkt. Op mijn Kanaal oefen ik vaak veel talen hoe Duits, Nederlands, Japans, en Spaans. Maar recentelijk oefene ik net Nederlands om dat ik deze challenge kan doen. Het is heel moeilijk een taal te leeren, omdat ik voel dat ik te weinig tijd heb om
het te doen. Ik wil meer tijd hebben, maar het is niet mogelijk. Ik werk 35 uren per week en na mijn werk voel ik daags dat ik slapen wil dan anders nog iets. Soms probeer ik iets op Youtube te kijken of boeken te lezen, maar de grotste problem die ik heb is dat ik geen idee heb, wat ik wel zou kijken of lezen. Recentelijk, game ik een beetje in het Nederlands, maar er zijn weinige games die ik in het nederlands kan gamen. Nu game ik Un-Epic. Het is een RPG-Game over een man, die vaak een DnD (Dungeons and Dragons) gelijkende Bordspel speelt. Eenmal wordt alles donker en wordt hij en een wereld gevangen, die zijn Bordspeel oplijkt. Mijn Nederlands gaat steds een beetje langzam, maar ik doe het graag elke daag. Recentelijk heb ik
een les met mijn leraar op Italki gedaan en ik heb mezelf even verbaasd hoe veel Nederlands ik spreken kon. Ik maak vaak nederlandse woorde met duits als een basis. Mijn leraar heb me ook gezegt hoe goed alles gaat met mijn nederlands. Dat maakt me gelukkig. Als Oefening, kijk ik de nederlandse TV-toneel "Het Huis Anubis," die mijn leraar mij aanbevolen heeft. Het is een beetje kinderlijk, maar het is goed voor mij, om nederlands meer te begrijpen. Als ik meer nederlands leren, wil ik ook films kijken of games spelen en het nederlands. Nu voel ik, dat ik mijn doel vervullen kan. Ik zou niet stoppen. Mijn vrienden hopen, dat ik nederlands leren kan en wil ze niet teleurstellen. Ik zal mijn best doen, ook al ik deze challenge niet compleet maken kan. 150 Words 2 persons have voted this message useful |
