BUMP
Well, it's with great pleasure that I find myself back here to update my log after a short hiatus of almost 4
months! The pressures of work and commuting left me quiet tired in the evenings and I was little inclined
to update here as a result. However, I have been studying quite diligently, and have popped in to the site
every day to keep up-to-date with goings on. Now that I am unemployed anew (think of it as early
summer holidays ;)) I can once again dedicate more time to actually writing as opposed to lurking here!
The following is a quick update to outline my activity in each language:
Gaeilge
Nothing new to report here, it's better than ever! Using the language everyday at work for the past year
plus has helped me immensely. Currently enjoying doing more reading in the language.
Français
Reading and web browsing account for most of my activity at the moment. I'm really enjoying some of the
Stephen King translations available, and got slightly addicted to the site "lingvist" where I went on a
frenzy of vocab revision.
Deutsch
Finished the first three HP books, the series really is brilliant in any language! I've been reading on my
kindle and am now in the process of learning all the unknown words that I looked up in reading the three
books using the vocabulary builder. Tough work, but not as boring as one might expect. Now back to
using Assimil's Perfectionnement Allemand. It was nice to have a break, I left off at lesson 40 and will now
continue on slowly until the end (hopefully!). The language is still as enticing to me as it ever has been.
Italiano
As stated at the beginning of the year, my goal is to work slowly through Assimil and Hugo's Italian in
Three Months. Everything going to plan, currently on lesson 50 of Assimil, chapter five of Hugo's. I
haven't been following the prescribed assimil method, preferring to test Luca's "full circle" method which
consists of translating the text into English, and back into Italian two days later. It's been going very well,
but I can see myself getting bored of it by the time I hit lesson 100.
That's it for the moment, time to study some more German!
