Can anyone recommend a good Dutch-English, English-Dutch bilingual dictionary? I'd prefer one which I can actually pick up (and buy from Amazon) but online versions are also acceptable.

Koenen and Van Dale have acceptable dictionaries... I don't know whether you can order them from Amazon or any other big international site but it's probably possible.

Van Dale are super heavy. Most of the words in there are hardly ever used. Koenen is a bit smaller but quite big still.
Sholars and students use smaller brands like these: http://www.prismawoordenboeken.nl/detailpagina.aspx?subcat=6 &isbn=9789027490995 I've worked in a book shop for some time, it's funny when you try to recommend a smaller book, foreigners will often go for a huge book instead. I agree. They make some excellent dictionaries. I can't really recommend any other English-Dutch dictionaries as the only one I use these days is the NT2 dictionary. As for online dictionaries, Interglot.Com isn't too bad (though not perfect). 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

I have over half a metre with Prismas, they're compact and certainly do the trick most of the time. I guess they're fairly cheap too. Check www.bol.com where Prisma's Dutch-English and English-Dutch cost € 8,95 each. From the books I have at home, I can tell that these books are about 3 centimetres thick (each), so they're easy to carry around.
