Hi!

I was wondering where I could find Christmas songs in different languages????
Especially: Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, German, Russian, Polish, Greek,
Japanese, Korean and Chinese, Cantonese.... anything. I have already found some
Chinese ones (e.g. Jingle Bells in Hakka!), but that´s all I could find. :( And I want
to have a Merry Polyglot Christmas! ;) So any idea/link is much appreciated. :)

Thanks,

Cisa

For Japanese I think that this is one of the most popular Christmas songs (and a
favorite of mine as well):
Ituka no Merry Christmas by B'z
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2XgL1H6ycg

This blog post from JAME has a list of Japanese songs:
http://blog.jame-world.com/2007/12/have-yourself-a-merry-jap anese-christmas/

There aren't too many Christmas Songs, and there doesn't seem to be much in terms of
translated Western-Christmas songs, if that was what you were looking for.

Not that I suddenly got loads of spare time, but it's been way too long since I promised this, so...

Kivimetsän druidi - Jäässä varttunut (Folk Metal. Frankly speaking I prefer their older stuff with their former female singer though, e.g. Veljet or Pohjoinen mahti)

Korpiklaani - Keep On Galloping (OK it's partly in English, but it's one of my most favourite songs), Suden joiku (also Folk Metal)

Teräsbetoni - Aika on, Teräksen taakka, Orjatar (Power Metal. Many have probably heard Missä miehet ratsastaa that they performed at Eurovision, but in my opinion these ones are much better;))

Ruoska - Käärmeen pesä, Järvet jäihin jää (Industrial Metal, some call them the Finnish Rammstein)

Maj Karma - Sodankylä, Ukkonen (Hard Rock/Alternative Rock)

Mokoma - Marras, Nujerra ihminen (Thrash Metal)

Kotiteollisuus - Helvetistä itään, Tämän taivaan alla (Heavy Metal)

Kylähullut - Kylähullut (Punk Rock/Speed Metal. Children of Bodom's guitarist and singer Alexi Laiho plays the guitar there. BTW the video consists of fragments of the movie Jäätynyt enkeli, which is absolutely great)

Verjnuarmu - Kuuvven sylen syvvyyvessä, Noetavaeno (Death/Folk/Doom Metal. They sing in the beautiful Savo dialect)

Less heavy stuff: (practically all of these can be described as rock)

Verenpisara - Harvoin, Aamuisin kun sataa

Leevi and the Leavings - Onnelliset, Kissanpentu, Teuvo, maanteiden kuningas

Popeda - Sukset, Ukkometso, Kakskytä centtiä

Tehosekoitin - Maailma on sun, Kaukaisimmalle rannalle, Lupaan

Klamydia - Pienen pojan elämää, Krapula tulee (minä määrään päivän), Ryssä mun leipääni syö

Viikate - Ah, ahtaita aikoja, Olkoon näin, Pienet mainosvalot, Pohjoista viljaa

Herra Ylppö ja Ihmiset - Sata vuotta (perhaps my favourite song at the moment), Kleopatra, Videovuokraamon tyttö (Maj Karma's (see above) lead singer's another project)

Uniklubi - Huomenna, Kaikki mitä mä annoin, Näiden tähtien alla

Yö - Rakkaus on lumivalkoinen, Sininen planeetta, Rakkautta vain

I rediscovered a few songs I'd downloaded long ago and haven't listened to for a while in Japanese

Aozora by Lia
Natsukage by Lia
goodbye days by YUI
Everybody needs somebody by Love Psychedelico
I'm waiting for you by Love Psychedelico
last smile by Love Psychedelico

Love Psychedelico are fond of using a pseudo-American accent in their songs, even when pronouncing Japanese words

it's gonna rain by Bonnie Pink
Last kiss by Bonnie Pink
Dango Daikazoku
Hare Hare Yukai
Motteke! Sailor Fuku

Many people find the last few especially irritating. ;D

Much of Kanno Yoko's music is not bad as well, especially for Cowboy Bebop; I'm not a big fan of Macross myself, which was the last anime she did music for.

Blue by Kanno Yoko
Tank

I just linked a big bunch of Finnish bands on the previous page, but luckily you have a few bands here that I didn't mention. Do you not like Stam1na, as you don't seem to recommend that one? Stam1na is probably the best Finnish metal band at the moment.

Oops, I've missed your post :D I think I've heard all the names mentioned, but never got around to actually listening to some of them, so thanks a lot :)
I do like Stam1na (although their gig at this year's KuopioRock was kinda disappointing), I'm just not familiar enough with their stuff :/ And I was sure if anyone liked the Mokoma songs I posted, they'd come across Stam1na's songs as well, through related vids or whatever :)
