This is one of my all time favorite Japanese songs

Yasashisa ni tsutsumareta nara
やさしさに包まれたなら

It's by Matsutoya Yumi (then named Arai Yumi)aka Yuming.

This song is from 1972 but it was used in the ending credits of the film "Majo no Takkyubin"(Kiki's Delivery Service) in 1989

Here's the link for the lyrics in Romanji and English:

alfajuj, I love that song and I love Kiki's Delivery Service. I would turn that up! :)

Right now I am listening to the Japanese song 明日への讃歌 by alan. Her voice is so beautiful.

There's lots of good Finnish music out there, I guess a dozen or so bands and performers who might be popular and respected in other countries too if it wasn't for the language barrier. However it might be somewhat smug to promote music from my own country, so I think I shouldn't say any Finnish bands.

Anyhow, I'm a big fan of Rammstein. They're one of the few bands that sing in a language other than English and yet have found global success, so I guess they don't even need to be promoted here, but here's still a link to one of their songs:

I really like the Swedish band Kent. They do melancholy synth rock and they're a popular band all over the Nordic countries, I think their newest album Tillbaka till samtiden is one of their best albums. Here's two hit songs by them:

Sigur Rós from Iceland could also be a band that people have heard of. I hear they influenced Radiohead too when they made Kid A. Wonderful, otherwordly music that's good to listen to when you want to close your eyes and relax. Sigur Rós sing in Icelandic but some of their songs are in "Hopelandic" - basically gibberish. You can download several songs from their website.

Myslovitz are a Polish band, and I don't know much about them, but what I've heard I definitely like. A few songs:

Dungen from Sweden:

Kaizer's Orchestra are from Norway:

Noir Desir are a French band:

Then there's German heavy metal bands like OOMPH!, Megahertz, Eisbrecher and others, but I haven't really got into them because to me they all sound like bad clones of Rammstein. (Then there's also Kraftwerk - a superb band - but I don't know if they count as their albums are out both in English and German.) I'm aware of some other bands too, like Mass Hysteria from France, Les Negresses Vertes again from France, Coma from Poland, Trypes from Greece, Metsatöll from Estonia, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci from the UK (they had songs both in English and WELSH), Mago de Oz from Spain, Tata Bojs from the Czech Republic, Ilgi from Latvia and some Norweigan black metal bands, but I haven't really heard any of their music so I don't know if they are any good or not.

When living in Spain, I once went to some show of Flamenco. I was immediately hooked. Since then I have been wanting to purchase more Flamenco, but here in England, there is nothing but Anglophone music. It is almost like a xenophobic cultural purge has swept this land as barely any other music can be seen in most stores!

I like Camarón de la Isla

I am sure that a search with Youtube would yield various results.

Could anyone perhaps recommend more Flamenco?

The guy who's recommended KENT, I undoubtly appreciate his suggestion...I'm so crazy over this band because I like synth-pop.....thanks!!!...I'm downloading loads of their songs....They remind me of Keane...

There's a Finnish reggae band whose name I cannot remember....they're pretty good cos I first listened to them a couple of months ago...

No problem. They're definitely a band worth listening to.
