Well I have been sick for the last few days, and I haven't really been doing too much language study. Did read the first scene of romeo and juliette in french though. I have just written my first 'lettre de motivation' for a job I want. So when the mrs gets home we will see how I went with that.
Oh I watched Pirates of the Carrabian last night, was kinda cool in French, but 'hello poppet' isn't anywhere near sinister enough when it is just 'Salut ma petite'...
Got some more french music which I like, which is nice, and a change. I also found some German music which is enjoyable. It is tickling my fancy, and I kind of want to start making progress with German now too..But I will try to deny myself...I really will.
Really, that is all, just bumping myself back up to the front page of the learning logs ;).
Thom.

Français:
Have been working my way through one of my grammar work books slowly. Besides that, job hunting. So not really focussing on my languages for the moment. Though I intend to do a bit of work this afternoon.
Italiano:
Nothing.
German:
Digging the new music, otherwise nothing.

Evening all, I hope that you are well.
Français: today I went through just over half of the CD of Assimil Business French that I have. Understanding it is not a problem, which is nice. I just need to work on my getting my written and oral expression up to par with my comprehension. Which I will, eventually.
Had a big night of french last week with my girlfriends family and friends for her fathers birthday. Breezed through the small talk. And undrestood the more involved conversations going on around the room.
Today I bought contact lenses in french, hooray for me.
I am making slow progress with the three musketeers, not that it is difficult, I just read more stuff in English online.
Italiano: We now have RAI News on the television, which was a surprise, it just appeared right between CNBC and Deutscher Weller the other day. I will do a bit more from my books tomorrow. I swear. You dear readers will have to mock me if I do not.
Thom.

Let the mockery begin, didn't do any text book work.
Français: Been reading a bit more of my three mousquetaires, and trying to find something interesting on the french side of the internet. I haven't had much luck, if anyone has anything vaguely interesting I would appreciate it.
Went to #learnanylanguage on irc.freenode.net, can be reached through http://www.mibbit.com, and had a chat to 'dmg' in French, he gave me a link to the Canadian Prime Ministerial debate. It was kinda cool to hear québécois in detail, and not too difficult to understand at all.
Italiano: I have actually been following the news in Italian for the last few days. Apparantly there has been some type of economic crisis :s. Currently browsing wikipedia in Italian for something to read.

My dear readers,
Over the last few days I have done lots of job hunting, telephone interviews and this morning I did an interview for a recruitment company. 45 minutes of nonstop French. At the end of which I was congratulated for my French, though I didn't get a job I atleast made a good impression and met the folks. I have another interview tomorrow morning. And another on Friday, so up and at them with my profound and awe inspiring french :s
I have also done a bit more reading, a bit more German Assimil, and a bit more Italian from my books.
Though understandably my mind is elsewhere.
Thom.

My hasn't the time flown.
Well, I got a call on monday saying that I have a job. Which is nice. Just waiting for it all to sort itself out and then I will be able to get stuck in to making some money to support my addiction (language learning of course).
So I have had some time to relax and do a bit of study. Reading a textbook related to the job that I will (hopefully) be going into. Did 30 pages of it yesterday, all in French mind you, and I only struggled with a few vocabulary points. Nothing major and I am very happy with the ease in which I understand it.
Been writing a touch of German into my emails with my German friend. Nothing approaching 'conversational' but it is a step towards the goal.
I have a friend who is looking for a scholarship to go to sweden next year for some of her post grad stuff. So naturally I found her all she could possibly need to pick up some swedish, and I have been looking at that too.
Italian wise, not much, I try to watch a bit of RAI when I can.
Anyway, I hope you are all progressing along nicely.
Thom.

Been a fairly crappy two weeks. Job fell through. Visa issues, but such is life.
I am going to Barcelona for new years eve. So I am going to put a bit of a push into learning some Spanish over the next 5 weeks or so. We'll see how far I get. I have assimil, pimsleur, a book in .pdf form with the 5000 most frequent Spanish words. So I will hopefully be able to make some significant progress. I thought about doing Catalan, but figure that as much fun for me as that would be, I am more likely to use Spanish throughout my life. So if I were to put the effort into a language, I'd prefer that.
French wise, I am becoming more and more at ease in using it. I still make mistakes, but not as many. I still need to practice writing. Something more than emails responding to job announcements.
So from now on: TAC Spanish.
*update* Pimsleur Lessons 1-3, Assimil lessons 1-3; and the first 23 pages of Camino al Español by Martinez et al.
A couple of hours.
Thom.
