Today I spent several hours on http://www.busuu.com, going through Spanish vocab, and exchanging my English for some french correction. I found it pretty damned good, and you can chat/webcam with your 'friends' which I think is neat.

I also did Pimsleur 1 lessons 4 and 5.

Dear Readers,

This morning I finished "édito" my B2 level Textbook for French. Did about two hours worth of French all up this morning.

I flew through the vocabulary of the last few chapters and the reading comprehension was pretty easy as well. Most of which I have picked up passively through the course of the last 6 months or so. I did most of the excercises, skipped a few though I did make sure that I knew the answers, you will forgive me I am sure.

Will do some Spanish this afternoon, and try to formulate my goals for the 2009 TAC. Which I will probably start early, because I have the time now and because I already decided to blitz Spanish this month. I am trying to convince a couple of friends of mine from back in Australia to join up and do it as well. To provide the extra motivation, and allow me to mock (encourage) people all the more personally.

I will decide whether I make a new Log or not later on. I might keep this one until the kick off date though. Thoughts comments are welcome as always, even though it seems like I do most of the talking in here.

*Edit* So I made the log. Though I will keep it for my TAC activities once that all kicks off.

Spanish wise I did Assimil lessons 4-10. Ser y Estar were covered, in addition to Haber y Tener. Will go over these eventually. I am liking that the sections are so small. It really helps you make like your making progress. Ten down a hundred or so to go.

Thom.

My dear readers,

Now that TAC fever is well and truly rife in our community, I will bore you with my normal log.

Today I did a few modules on busuu.com. Making my Spanish tree grow. Getting some good feedback, and have decided that I will use it to improve my French writing skills as well, as there are some decent responses to what other people have put up in the French section.

I had a pretty busy day, so I didn't get around to doing assimil or pimsleur, but that's ok.

French wise I finished a chapter in my text book from my B1 class. Will probably finish that book tomorrow. I am not really doing all the excercises, because I am finding it pretty easy.

After seeing Volte mark leopejo's (I think) English, I am thinking I need to put some effort into that as well.

That's all for now.
Thom.

I assume you have the same Spanish assimil as me. What do you think of the various dialogues that have no logical progression - aka just a series of sentences? And how do you deal with them?

I have Assimil L'espagnole sans peine. Most of the dialogues flow and progress, even though each lesson has a different subject. Though they might be focussed on the most obtuse conversations, they are conversations.

The ones that are just a series of sentences, so far, have been when they introduce the verbs. Thus each sentence has the logical progression of showing each of the verb conjugations in the present tense for the two verbs that they introduce. Which for me is logical and they add vocab by not repeating the same sentence six time.

So I am not sure what you mean. Just skipping ahead in the book gets me even more complex, but still complete conversations.

I deal with them, by reading them, listening to them, and moving on.

Thom.

Update.

I have now done 15 units of busuu Spanish. No assimil or pimsleur today, had a job interview this morning. If I can get my Spanish up to a similar level, ie. able to go into a job interview and not really worry about whether that which is going to come out of my mouth will make sense, I will be a very happy man.

Had a good flex of my French muscles this morning, went well I believe. Producing more and more written/typed French, and getting it corrected, though I don't think it is as good as Tricours's...yet.

Gotta continue job hunting. Might update this later tonight, or not.

Thom.

I started to teach myself about a little over a year ago, maybe eighteen months. I've had my French girlfriend for two and a half years though.
