Quite a lot less dogs than in the Netherlands! And the few dogs that do live in Norway are properly looked after. Even the toughest tatooed ape-like body builder with equally tough dog of doubtful breed will pick up the dog crap with a small plastic bag and throw it into the litter bin. Unlike the Netherlands, where you without a doubt will end up with dog poo on your shoes if you don't watch out like Sherlock Holmes! We got a lot of elk/moose though, and they kill more people than all bears and wolves in Norway together do (car accidents).

Moose are freakishly big. You made Norway sound interesting to me. How close is it to Dutch (as you can see in my profile I'm a native speaker as Dutch, just like you)? Do they share a lot?

I'm living in Vietnam, a beautiful tropical country in Southeast Asia.
Have you ever heard about my country?
My country have a lot of famous landscapes such as Hạ Long bay, Phong Nha Cavern, beautiful beach.....
We have a long-standing culture. We usually wear our tranditional custom called "áo dài" at the great dates such as Tet holiday, wedding or Independence Day. In a family, we worship our ancestors or the national heroes.
The Vietnamese are very friendly, honest, industrious and united!
I wish you could visit my country someday! it would be so cool! ^^

My country is a place of contrasts, I guess. Bulgaria has a really diverse and beautiful nature, that can offer a little bit of everything. We have high mountain lakes, a fair share of forests, sunny beaches, authentic historical towns and even a few medieval castles; Around the town of Belogradchik there is this bizarre limestone landscape, that makes you feel as if you are seeing the prehisotirc earth, untouched by man.

Now the bad stuff; Most cities are nowhere near tidy. Even in the centre of Sofia you can see the ugly façades of half-ruined historical buildings that nobody seems to care about. There is a lot of construction going on and the shiny new buildings are multiplying by the hour. They feel a bit out of place sometimes. I think Sofia really became uglier in the last 5 years, but that's just a personal opinion.

Homeless dogs are plentiful, of all sizes and levels of aggressiveness. Personally I find most of them cute. However, in the suburbs they tend to form packs which can be a bit innervating ;-)

The ones in the centre around the Vitosa boulevard are harmless and cute, though.

Athens has many problems as a city, the strolling dogs being the least of it. It is really polluted, noisy and... well, apart from the area around the Pantheon it's just some urban nightmare; I very much prefer Thessaloniki, another major city in Greece, that's both prettier and quieter.

My country is called Spain and despite of what most of people think it´s more than bullfighting, party and "flamenco". However, tourism is the main source of income that Spain has. Spanish people make our country nice, happy, polluted and noisy specially in big cities like Madrid.
Our country is also full of culture and has very beautiful cities like Granada, Salamanca, Barcelona (yes, Catalonia is also Spain), Sevilla, etc. I find it a nice place to live although not the best. Anyway, Spain is different.
¡Un saludo!

My country is called Australia, it is relatively big, and rather empty. It is a land of stunning contrasts, beautiful beaches, deserts, mountains and rainforests. It was best said by Dorethy Mackellar:

'I love a sunburnt country, A land of sweeping plains, Of ragged mountain ranges, Of droughts and flooding rains. I love her far horizons, I love her jewel-sea, Her beauty and her terror - The wide brown land for me!'

However, the Australian people, leave something to be desired, since I left they have been labelled the most overweight nation on the face of our planet. The culture is young, drunk, and unimpressive by and large. I know that there are a few of us (australians) who frequent this site, but for me, the norm is to be stupid, monolingual and rather crass. These few who post here, they are the exceptions in my eyes.

Though she has many redeeming features, I have no great longing to return any time soon.

Right now I live in Paris, and as I have been told, it is Paris, and not France. The Parisians have a rather negative reputation in the anglophone world. I have found this to be misleading. They have proven to be a warm, caring and hospitable people. But, as with all large cities, there is the public face which must first be overcome, this I understand, as I have my own rather unwelcoming public face when I need to be getting things done amidst the millions of tourists who arrive each year. I have fallen in love with the centuries old buildings, the lay out of my city, the culture, the activities, the diversity of people and the vibrancy which exists here, if you look outside of the tourist zones.

I have found the landscape of France to be marvelous and breath taking. A stark contrast of greenery to the drought stricken country that I left.

Voilà, my countries, my thoughts, and my opinion.

Thom.

Just wondering: where did the original post go? Has 'puccahaha' been deleted and banned?
