I am learning French because I like the sound of the language and because it's useful and
is spoken in many countries and not because I only want to chat up French women.
I have had language exchanges with female French language partners.Yes some have been
impressed and have complimented me on my knowledge of French but they have hardly thrown
themselves at me.
If you are just learning a foreign language in order to impress the opposite sex. Then
frankly you are wasting your time.If you are learning a foreign language because you like
the target language. Then you will succeed in your goal.

Spanish seems like the obvious choice to me - at least where I live, there are hundreds of young Spanish women around, and many are good-looking and friendly. Some speak English well but many don't. Oh yeah, and there's Latin America...
I fully agree with the points that if you can't attract a woman in your native language then you won't have much more luck in another one, and that for someone like that learning a language just to attract women is a waste of time - opportunity cost! At the end of the day, it's just "icing on the cake" - something that might make you slightly more attractive to someone who already finds you attractive. But at the same time, knowing another language gives you the potential to speak to millions of women whom you wouldn't be able to speak to otherwise, which is undeniably a nice bonus!

By the time you get intimate enough to say this, you'll have dispensed with the formal
"khun" and will have started using the more intimate "thoe". Or just say "[your name] rak
[her name]".

When will the women on the forum start a thread about the best language(s) for meeting men? And perhaps someone could start another one on the best languages for LGBT?
(And no, I am not trying to be PC, I find this thread rahter entertaining in a peculiar sort of way.)

Yeah. But it does seem weirdly sexist given the number of women in HTLAL.

Maybe they are sensible enough not to.

1) Find the right woman.
2) Learn her language.
That seems to me like a much more efficient method and worthwhile endeavour than spending months learning a language *just in case*. |

I don't think I could have found my boyfriend and recognized him as the right man if I had not been able to speak his language first.
I do agree that spending months learning a language *just in case* is not really efficient or worthwhile though.
