He has a new video up, a conversation with a Canadian teenager who learned Icelandic to a high level while living in Canada and got media attention in Iceland as a result. :-)

By the way, this Canadian teenager is our forum's very own csjc.

"Richard aus Großbritannien" (= Richard from Great Britain) is the only finalist of the wellknown You Tube polyglots in the

VIDEO - COMPETITION of GOETHE - INSTITUT

Now you have the possibility to support Richard's video by giving him your vote, if you like. He has 8 competitors in this final round from different countries, so this an international comptetition.

To be able to give Richard my vote, I even activated a Facebook-account!

Voting is possible from 17-07-2012 to 24-07-2012

Go Richard and the best of luck for your You Tube video! :)

Here is the link to the voting page on Facebook:

Public Video Voting of Goethe - Institut

Please click on the icon "MehrsprachICH" because that's the official name of the video competition!

I myself am also a participant of this competition, but my own video hasn't reached the final round of the best 9 videos.

Thanks Fasulye! Come on everyone!

Richard is getting beaten by some people who apparently just have more friends and family than he does. Get out there and vote!

Thanks for showing your support. Sadly I have had messages saying people "know" I am going to win...So
they are voting for other people....

Whilst I am not into competition, I would like the chance to speak at the conference in Italy and to do that I
need to compete. If anyone else would like to see me there too, then I will definitely need all the support I
can get. I'm in third place at the moment and the two front runners certainly seem to have a LOT of support.

It did strike me that people may be put off from voting by the application Facebook asks you to install...all I
can say is...you can always uninstall it right after you vote... ;).

Thanks again to everyone who has voted for me. I am grateful for any support I get to try to promote
language learning and support other learners further. :)

I'm afraid I haven't got a facebook, but good luck. Actually that girl is pretty good for a "normal" (i.e. not one of us) especially considering she is only A2 - if that makes sense.

edit: removed a bit that would have led to people to assume that the other video was more exciting than it actually was.

I have voted (for Richard), I hope! It seemed to take forever to register my vote
though, so I don't know if it really worked, and I forgot to make a note of the number of
votes before I voted, so I can't be sure if it changed.

I thought it was quite funny on the video from the Greek lady in Germany, that the cat
tried to steal the show! :-) What do they say in the film biz? Never work with children
or animals!

As a technical analphabet who is unable to uninstall anything and with a phobia for Facebook applications, I must admit I swallowed an extra time before installing it, but guys, this is Torbyrne!

How could we possibly not go in and vote for him!

Both because he really deserves it, and because he is one of our own.

So let us step on it, and give him all our support!
