I want to reach basic fluency in Spanish by July.
Then this summer I go to live in Spain for a year.
There I should attain almost native fluency by mid 2010.
When I reach maybe intermediate fluency, I might start French or Romanian.

Get my Slovak up to 'Advanced Fluency' as described by this site by July, and get my rusty German up to at least 'Basic Fluency' by the end of the year, and master the basics of either Spanish or Italian, I haven't yet decided.

--I'd like to reach strong beginner in Mandarin, starting from knowing nothing right now.
--For French, I'd like to be advanced beginner, or even possible low intermediate, by the end of 2009.
--Spanish is going on the back burner for right now, although I may study every once in a while to keep what little knowledge I have.

MY LANGUAGE GOALS FOR 2009
I just continue my study of the Turkish language with the same regularity, discipline and enthousiasm, as I did before having started the whole project in May 2008. I have determined my way of dealing with this language study not the final result. I am sure that continuing the project in this way will lead to a for me personally satisfying result.
Additionally this means that I keep my other 6 foreign languages in active use by - of course - using them all in this language forum, but also in variable ways in my private and professional life. My way of life should always be full of languages and that's wat I am going to realize in this year 2009 as well.
I am not privileged by such circumstances as living in a foreign country, travelling to other countries or even intensive native speaker contacts, but I am language-experienced enough to build up my personal language immersion, so I expect that there will be some postitive results coming out of it by the end of the year 2009.

Well, since my university days are over and I no longer have the same amount of time to devote to language learning. At university I was working on three or four at a time and making progress and since I've started working full time I have barely worked on languages at all :( Anyway, now I've determined that is is more useful for me to master one language really well, than to pursue several to an intermediate-high stage...
So, my primary goal for 2009 is to obtain an advanced level of fluency in Spanish.
I'm already at a higher intermediate level ie I have completed up to unit 40 of the FSI Basic Course.
How: To complete the full course of Platiquemos (start from beginning for review)
-shadowing both volumes of Assimil Spanish
-practice conversing with native speakers at least twice per week.
-watching movies and TV to practice listening comprehension.
-writing at least once per week in Spanish.
total Time dedicated to learning Spanish - 20hrs/week
