Well, since my university days are over and I no longer have the same amount of time to devote to language learning. At university I was working on three or four at a time and making progress and since I've started working full time I have barely worked on languages at all

Yes, that's the way it goes, if you have a fulltime job! When I studied Romance Filology at university, I worked on 6 foreign languages at the same time, but now being employed I concetrate on ONE language for intensive studying and besides this I keep my other 6 languages active by using them regularly. But it does make a great difference, whether you are in the working process or a student.

1 - Pass the HSK 汉语水平考试 Chinese proficiency exam at a high level.
2 - Learn to speak Esperanto fluently.
3 - Start a degree in English Liguistics.
4 - At the end of the year start to learn German or French again.

I'm giving myself half-year goals as I don't know what I'll be doing after summer. So by summer 2009:

French: consolidate Basic Fluency by increasing vocabulary and improving speaking and listening skills.

Italian: reach Upper Intermediate level. Increase vocabulary greatly.

Swahili: reattain a reasonable Intermediate level. Relearn lots of grammar and vocabulary.

Turkish and Arabic: not really sure, but I'm aiming to at least maintain what I already know in these languages (which isn't much).

By the end of the year I hope to have achieved basic fluency in two languages and an intermediate level in two others. But we'll see how it goes.

*Reach basic fluency in German (speaking, not just reading)

*Continue with Swedish; be able to read an average novel and hold a conversation

*Work through "Beginner's Finnish" and have a grasp of the basics of the language

Good luck to everyone! :) I hope we all achieve this year's goals

Edit: And I am not allowed to pleasure read in English!

German: achieve basic fluency in speaking and be able to understand 99% of what I read.

Swiss-German: be able to understand spoken Swiss-German at least one third of the time.(Doesn't sound like much, does it?)

Danish: read a couple of books and watch a couple of DVDs.

A language from SE Asia, maybe Indonesian: learn some travel basics.
