Служба Внешней Разведки, or in English Sluzhba Vneshney Razvedki (SVR). It’s Russia’s CIA. Had you known about that war, and especially if you could articulate it in the “Canadian perspective” i’d be very surprised and impressed, enough to secretly wonder if you work for your county's external affairs. Um, it would’ve been my way of saying you know my country very well.
I’d expect Russians and the world in general to know quite abit about America, but Canada hahaha nope. Its Canada, nobody pays attention to us...which is good, means the terrorists will blow America’s stuff up and not Canada’s. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------- It seems, I am stupid. Haha, that didn’t take long. Usually it’s at least a month before the other shoe drops...this time though, one day. Definitely a new record lol. I’m still pretty pissed off though so I’ll wait a day or two before I write about it.
Learning Russian is no longer a hobby, it’s now the imperative. The necessary changes to support this started coming online earlier today... a ful-l-scale effort is now in progress. This little game that I call my life is far from over. I will adapt. ------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------- Day 84 7 hrs committed. 6 hrs to review, 1 to vocabulary expansion. Block 1 (500) – Consolidation in progress -Successful spoken identification: in progress -Successful visual identification: in progress -Successful written production: in progress Block 2 (500) – Consolidation pending Block 3 (500) – Under review *In the short term most of my efforts will revolve around a large scale review. I want to be able to recall word meanings immediately just by hearing them. Comprehension of spoken Russian requires it. Its truly a strange thing, listening to words in another language and having the meaning of those words just pop in to your head as if from nowhere.

Small victories
When I first started learning Russian I subscribed to Transparent Languages Russian word of the day. I’ve been using lately as a test of my Russian reading abilities, i.e. wake up and see if I can read the sentence that comes with the WOTD. And hoorah, I have my first hit. Мария разговаривала с подругой по телефону два часа. It’s a simple sentence but being able to read it with nothing helping me and having a translation to compare it to so I know I’m right, yeah i’m pleased. Some more time, and you will can translate such sentences to English very easy. But can you translate they to Russian without mistakes? It is more difficult. As I can see on this forum, the most of foreigners do some typical mistakes, for examples, they forget to coordinate the subject and the attribute in the gender and the case. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||||||||

Dodged the bullet
Yes, no purgatory for me. Life dealt me that one card we all hate, the beloved “your sh*t is now out of order” card. I do wish I could’ve helped with whatever it was I was being summoned for. But at the same time, I’m the one who’s ultimately responsible for my life, I need to help myself before I can help others. I adapted as best as I could, but that’s another post entirely. On the brightside, it means I have a whole week to do nothing but study Russian. Its going to be awesome. I’ll see how things go, I might still have to go down there to visit my little brothers. They were ripping around on a quad and they smoked a dog. They got roughed up pretty good, totalled the quad...totalled Sparky too. Yeah, I'd imagine most foreigners have a way of screwing up the Russian language, but...I'm not those foreigners. I can't put my thoughts into Russian yet, but give it some time.
