Hello!
I'm Elisabeta from Romania. I teach English in Romania and also Romanian (as a foreign language). Unfortunately I believe that thare are very few online materials for learning Romanian, but I can recommend you a forum on the site of the Letters University in Cluj Napoca Romania. - www.lett.ubbcluj.ro - there is a subforum for this particular Department.
Our Department offers courses of Romanian as a foreign language to different categories of students: the ones studying the language year, the ones studying in UBB as part of inter-university contracts (ERASMUS, CEEPUS, double diploma) or the ones benefitting of different scholarships. We also teach Romanian for the students participating in the EILC programme and the summer courses. Actually, anyone can ask for courses in our Department, having the possibility to study as part of our groups of students, in smaller groups or one to one. Unlike our students, these people will have to pay for the classes, but usually a convenient arrangement is available for all those interested.
If you need materials, if you have questions, do not hesitate to write on the forum. Romanians are really eager to have their language known in the world.
DA! ROMANA MERITA SA FIE INVATATA!

Well well well.
Long time no see.
I went to Romania and back, and found myself af sweet romanian girl how wants to help me with my romanian. I bought biblia pentru copii (bible for kids), 1 dictionar, berlitz romanian phrasebook, 3 dvd's with cartoons, 2 newspapers, a romanian bible, 3 cd's with music and one dvd with live music - and some honey, yummi!
I learned alot about the grammar, pronunciation and a lot of new words i Romania.
The romanian language is beautiful - so is Romania. Romania is amazing and frightening.

Translating and learning all words + grammar from Albă ca zăpada (snow white, Grimm) by heart, so i can read it, translate and hopefully pass it on in romanian without reading from the book.

It sounds very simple when you tell it like that ...
Good luck to both you and your Romanian girlfriend

Eu sper să înveţi bine limba română. Aş dori să visitez România de asemenea.
It's good to see others learning Romanian. I have really enjoyed it so far, but I have a long way to go still.
What do you mean by "Romania is frightening?"

Thanks.
Then go! Romania is a beautiful country with nice people.
There is a striking contrast in Romania. I visited people who could not give there kids enough to eat and did not have much of a chance of staying warm in the coming winter, children who could not go to school because the did not have 4 euros for pencils and paper, people using a horsedrawn carriage and living in houses that for sure will make them very sick...
... and then i went to the big malls, talked to people driving bmw and mercedes s class cars, wearing gucci, owning big houses that looked like castles inside, put there kids in expensive private schools, etc.. It is very.. unreal.
