I've used the beginner and advanced courses for each language except for German, and I found the Spanish course good. The biggest drawbacks are the lack of native accents and pronunciation. The beginner course is a good introduction to the language, but the male student makes a great many mistakes, which can be bothersome (though amusing) if you use the program multiple times. The advanced course goes through the 'higher' tenses, but I feel I got more out of the advanced French course (when I used that) than the Spanish adv course in comparison. This might have been due to the French students (they were sharper), or to differences in his teaching of the grammatical points, or my knowing more Spanish when I used that adv course than French when I used its adv course. But for the price, I'd say it's a good introduction to the language, and a far better deal (both time-wise and money-wise) than many other courses out there. You'll be able to make your own sentences when you're done with it if you sweep it enough, and you'll be able to make yourself understood. From there, you can learn accent, vocabulary, and the rabbit hole of intricacies that define day-to-day conversation from other sources (reading, radio, FSI, native speakers, etc).

Can someone explain me what "Michel Thomas" is? I have never seen that learning method in my country (and I will never see it here).
I just want to know what it is, how much languages can you learn with Michel Thomas method? Cost of the method?
Thank you.
Guido, from Argentina

Roger,
Where did you find your information about the new Michel Thomas books? The only information I can find on his official site is the astounding revelation that he continues to teach classes, some 27 months after he passed away.
Guido,
Michel Thomas was a language teacher. He produced some popular audio courses in French, German, Spanish and Italian (aimed at native English speakers). He taught using an original method. There are three stages to each course. The beginner's course contained eight CDs, the intermediate course contained two, and the advanced course contained four. A set of three courses (beginner, intermediate and advanced) would cost about $150 US brand-new. Read the reviews on amazon.co.uk for more information.
