It's probably a good thing. His accent is terrible in most languages. His
Italian and Spanish accent is very poor, but i do find his courses very
engaging, and i feel they should all have been done with native speakers
from the start.

just tried the link i posted yesterday and it doesnt work for me, but it is from the michel thomas forum on his website. the new vocab courses seem like they could be good as well, as the beginner advanced and language builder courses give you 550 new words combined, i think, will have to check that, and the new vocab courses an extra 800 words that werent in those courses.

I have Michel Thomas French Basic, Builder, and Advanced courses... after I've completed all of them can anybody tell me at what "level" of French I'll be at? And where I should move on from there (FSI, Radio, etc)?

I'd say "beginner with a good overview of grammar", as they teach very little vocabulary.
FSI would be a decent followup if you like drills. Personally, I can't stand them (I end up doing them mechanically without learning), and like a more 'global/intuitive' approach better. Consequently, I really like the Assimil series, which are basically bilingual readers with audio. A lot of the grammar will be familiar after Michel Thomas, but a lot of details, idioms, and vocabulary won't be.
I like listening to the radio from fairly early on in my studies. Actually, before recently, when I decided to start seriously studying (thanks to lurking on this forum), I'd listen to the radio even in languages I wasn't studying. This helps a lot with becoming familiar of the sound of the language, and with listening comprehension. However, it's not enough by itself.

If any one wants to work through the MT courses quickly, there are now Review CD's available which edit out the students and just leave MT asking the question in English and then providing the answer in the target language.
These will be really useful for anyone who already has some background in the language or wants to review quickly.
The foundation courses have a two disc review and the advanced course is on a single cd for each language (German, French, Italian and Spanish)
I have been in touch with the publishers, Russian and Mandarin have now been recorded and are supposed to be extraordinary!
They are also talking about producing a Dutch and Portuguese course next year.
The vocabulary courses, which were the second phase of Michel's programme are available in the Uk from tomorrow, 25 May 2007. Can't wait to get my hands on them, will post a review as soon as I have completed it.

as well as Russian and Mandarin it says they have recorded Arabic on their website, i think you can find them on amazon already for pre-order. Didn't know about Dutch and Portuguese, think Id be interested in Dutch at some point, way in the future though.
