caeruleus = blue in Latin (and used in a lot of scientific animal- and plant names). But strange because it ultimately must be derived from caelum, sky (heaven), but with a puzzling change of 'l' to 'r'.
Btw it is also puzzling that 'sky' in English is the atmosphere above us, where other Germanic languages with the word 'sky' (eg. Danish) use it about clouds.
