I'm female too. I didn't realize so many members here were female. I was under the (sometimes correct) assumption that language forums are male dominated, and unless there's some indication otherwise, most members are male.
But on female dominated forums I visit, I tend to assume the members there are female.
By the way, I'm sure there are plenty of highly intelligent people out there in non-intellectual fields of work. Maybe they are simply interested in something else, or maybe they don't have a choice.

Kenski: I wouldn't completely agree with you there, you really make it sound like men have never touched their children. It's no shock that we no longer live in a particularly "natural" society in the West, and it has been like that for at least some time now. So if intellectual women's children are neglected (I wouldn't agree with that, I'd say business women may have neglected children), then it's just as much the fault of the man as it is the fault of the woman.
And luckily modern women have some choice and can skip the whole children thing if they want. :)

We shall talk about 'modern women' when modern life has become able to offer an alternative way of human's multiplication. Using your words, skip the womb. That's the point. And even that might be not enough. All the human nature has to be changed. Till then every 'modern' thing in family and sexual relations turns out to be and old warp. Even if perversions became more common, they don't become normal. Nature simply takes care of herself when we deem that it is we who take care of ourselves. Sometimes it seems to me that all the modernisations can be easily reduced to helping women skip everything and giving men their toys so they couldn't notice anything. It is more fragile than it looks. 'Skip the whole children thing' in one generation – and that's the end. Skip it in half, that is one woman give birth to one child instead of two or three, and very soon the pressure on the ground would be twice easier. And what is one generation? Twenty years! – it could be affected by mere fashion.
By the way, you wrote 'sound like men have never touched their children'. But do you know that it's exactly what has happened? Maybe in Scandinavia you do skip something important, but you won't be much mistaken if you tell that my father has never being touched be his father, because he was killed young in WW2. And his father was killed young in WW1. The same thing with my grandfathers on the mother side. They only had time to pass the genes (they are good genes and I am learning to appreciate them as I am getting older; but why carrier of the best genes are getting killed in the first row?) So who am I? And how my father know how to touch me? I don't want to look sentimental. I am not. The thing is we live too near-sightedly and self-centredly and call it practical, but it is folly.
And can you see why between two great wars there was exactly one generation?
We no longer live in natural society, but something had to be paid for that. It is never otherwise. As for me, the price is obvious. But that's another story.
When you said 'business woman' you probably wanted to convey notion 'busied'. But what it is she is so much busied with? I long ago came to conclusion that everyone lives as he or she wants to, whatever he likes to tell or think of himself. Especially in our not natural society.
Intellectual woman is somebody to talk with, but nobody to live with. Intellect is a characteristic of human being, but not of female. Humanity is divided into women and men only by sex. If there are questions, the key must be here. Physiological division between humane sexes is very sharp, and maybe it is as much a reason as a consequence of our intelligence. A compensation of a kind. hen Woman can give birth only to one child in 9 month. Man can become a father of a thousand in the same term. Hence men were always more or less dispensable material. Quantative regeneration of our species depends on woman, not man. And nature can't refuse such guarantee for the case of emergency, and not, consequently, provide men with polygamous instinct. On the other hand, such polygamy is harmful from the genetic point of view, detrimental for life conditions and catastrophic culturally. The fact that boys and girls are being born in equal proportion and the aforementioned fact that children grow very slowly indubiously point out the normal way of family life. But how to entice an individual into such mode of life?
With women it isn't a big problem. Family instinct, so to say, is firmly tied for her with other basic individual needs. And to demand for herself is nearly the same as to demand for her children. But what about the man? Joy of the sex for years with the same woman? When the polygamy instinct whisper to him 'Go and find another mother of you children'? And why must he stay with his family and sacrifice himself in danger when the instinct of self-preservation bawl to woman 'Hold on thy man!' and to him 'You are stronger, you are not pregnant, run and save your life'.
So for men and women family instinct are two quite different thing. For man it is pure spiritualistic, not based even on sexual relations and not on anything at all but itself. It is abstract. And for the same reason indestructible. That is why men stupidly continue to marry, while as soon as material primitive dependence women on men vanished, the marriage from her side practically ceased – or skipped - to exist. As I can see, women do absolutely nothing to give men even illusory help and support. Instead of trying to be ideal to match man's feelings and even desperate needs, she wages absurd war for equality in the kitchen.
It can be seen that though intelligent substance is universal, the gender itself makes men prone to me intellectual, while to women it says nothing; and as long as human kind is divided into men and women, the latter will never be the first in anything.
