I've learned Dutch in my old school adn I can undertsand without problem NL-Dutch and B-Dutch ("flemihs")
spoken and written, when it's the standard version. Of course the Flemish can understand perfectly the sproken
NL-Dutch, excalty as walloons can understand the French TV.

It seems that the flemish who don;t like the Dutch, say it's a spearated language, "Flemish" and the Flemish who
like the Dutch sya it's Dutch LOL!!

As a native dutch speaker from Flanders, yes we can! we spend hours in front of the TV
watching Dutch channels (from NL) making fun of their accent, but we understand all of
it... every word, even the colloquialisms (which we find very funny often)

Well sorry, but I don't.

Dug himself a nice little hole, he has. Which goes to show that the harder one tries to prove one's biased personal view-point, the greater the risk of coming over as a nincompoop.

Jar-ptitsa- What happened to "If you can't spell it, don't write it"? Please read through your comments before posting them, your spelling mistakes are ridiculous!

I can spell veyr good but sometimes the letters and all the things are moving and ym eyes don't notice. Truly I try,
for exmaple i read my posts and if I'm write a letter I've a spellchecker and if firefox funciton as well this has the
international spell checker but it doens't function always therfore I have to use safari where I didn't find one. I've
some problms in my brain and concentration's veyr difficlt (sometimes, not absolutly all the time it depend). I take
medicien every day which block the neurotrasnmitters of dopamine, also this make feel tired or little bit dizzy
thrfore I'm not lazy at all. for exmaple many things happen but i have to ignore those, or always have to use the
strategies for determine if the others can hear those as well and this mke very tired and fed up, it's not ym fault, I'm
veyr nice and kind perosn please don't criticise me. if those are ridiculous I'm sorry, if I put some stupid thinsg I'm
sorry for those as well.

Your remark is uncalled for because you should have realised that those are not really spelling mistakes but the result of a genuine handicap. She has as much right to be heard as anyone else, so cut out your righteousness and pedantry and show a little tolerance and understanding. Please.

Yes. :) I was referring to the ' we spend hours in front of the TV watching Dutch
channels (from NL) making fun of their accent. '
I remember when I watched 'Baantjer' (you might know this series) on the VRT, I
couldn't understand a word of what they said. (but luckily it was subtitled).

Why is it listed as my native language? Because in fact it IS NOT A SEPARATE language.
It would be false to say Flemish is my native language, because officially it is not a
separate language. The written Dutch is almost equal to Flemish. The thing is that the
Flemish pronounce everything more in the French way, while the Dutch prefer the
English way. And this can lead to misunderstandings.

I was in Amsterdam a few weeks ago. I ran out of money, so I asked someone to show me
the way to the nearest bank. I had to ask beg her pardon for more than 4 times, till I
finally got what she meant. Is that normal??

Anyway. I'm anxious to see what you'll say about this.
