FRENCH:
I procured Le Dîner de Cons and watched it today. One hour, eighteen minutes of the funniest movie ever and some good listening practice! Right now, I'm studying Chem while listening to French music--Kyo, Sherifa Luna, Disney in French, Les Choristes, Jenifer, Natasha St. Pier. Apparently, some family friends are going to France next summer and would like me to come along as interpreter...geez, this past summer was one big boredom festival and nothing was going right and now good things are actually happening. Amazing. Of course, I've already got the one job lined up for the first month, so if I take this second one, I may not be able to work on a farm. Anyway, the bottom line is, I have three different jobs available next summer, all in France, & all I've got to do is pick! (RUSSIAN--?!?!)
Currently listening to Disney songs in Russian. No, I am not intending to take it up for quite a while, but I'd like to get a feel for the pronunciation...I'm a little worried, especially about the R, since I've tried and tried and still can't do a Spanish trill. Hopefully things will work out with Russian! EDIT: actually, according to my roommate (who can roll her R's like crazy), I'm starting to get it (I've been practicing obsessively for the past week and getting LOTS of funny looks on the street). Apparently the roll is there, but there's something extra too? I dunno...I have a short frenulum, which is maybe why this is difficult for me, but I'm starting to hope that I can perfect a rolled R without surgery haha.
