Ik bedoel niet .... te klinken is the correct syntax. But you wouldn't use "bedoelen"
here but "willen". If you want to use bedoel, use the noun: "Het is niet mijn bedoeling
ondankbaar over te komen..." |

Actually, on second thoughts, I think we would be more direct in Dutch:
'Ik wil niet vervelend zijn, maar ...'
'Ik wil niet ondankbaar zijn, maar ...'
'Ik bedoel niet ondankbaar te klinken' sounds too stilted.

I agree being more direct is more Dutch, but I can see a use for the latter. And
politeness is a virtue, not a vice, Dutch people ought to remember that.
Ik bedoel niet ondankbaar te klinken is just wrong in my view. I don't think any Dutch
person would phrase it that way.

You can use Assimil Dutch with Ease, the language of explanation is English. This book costs less than 7 euro.

The official price is €23,60 at http://en.assimil.com/methodes/dutch-with-ease/declinaisons/ livre-3646. You must be referring to a second-hand copy, in which case you might as well give the URL to save a lot of confusion.
I suggest trying Michel Thomas: http://www.michelthomas.com/learn-dutch.php

FAQ-NL: Want, sinds, voor?
Are these sentences all correct? Do they mean exactly the same thing? Any guidelines which
to use?
Hoe lang heb je daar woonde?
Want hoe lang heb je daar woonde?
Voor hoe lang heb je daar woonde?
Sinds hoe lang heb je daar woonde?
