Hi Jenny, so you are taking another course in Arabic?
I think that Michael Thomas is enough as a start and that you have to go on to the next level which is thinking, writing and talking Arabic in some arabic websites.
Take a look at this:
startimes2.com
It's the biggest ever arabic forums, arabs from all the countries gather there, and it has all the sections and interests possible..and there are football forums in it ofcourse :)
most of them write in MSA but there are some dialects involved too.

Türkisch für Anfänger is so cool! One of the few German shows that I like for itself, not because of the language. One day I'll have to sit down and get the next few seasons--I only finished up through the second. Thanks for bringing it back into my consciousness!
I hope that things are progressing well, and don't stress about B1 to B2. I'm sure you're doing great. It must be superb to be in Switzerland, with direct access to the language all the time. Surrounding yourself with podcasts and TV is one thing, but having conversations on the street is another (and something that I find endlessly fascinating in a foreign language). Anyhow, I remember you asked a while back about a site similar to Audiria, but for German? I didn't forget the query, but to be honest, I haven't really found one better than LingQ. I'll keep searching though. I'll also keep a look out for more fun podcasts. Haha I realized the other day that I listen to the most boring stuff in German! (It's not boring for me, but they are like economic reports or informational things that I could not in good faith recommend to someone who wants to be entertained.) Good luck this month!

Hey you! Thanks for the wonderful comments! Let's see--oh, I think that was the first fiction I had read by an Austrian author too, so don't worry. :) (But we have a lot on the syllabus, so I'll let you know as they come up.)
I definitely agree about the TAC being really motivating. It gives me that extra push that I need on the days when I'm feeling lethargic. Haha especially since I've pretty much established mine to be a daily log, I have to force myself to do something; I can't just leave it blank.
It's also interesting that you wrote about Lang-8 when you did, because I was just thinking about how I was a bit dissatisfied with my progress! But I suppose it's fine; I just need to work harder. I have two logs on my laptop where I keep the entries. After I get corrections, I mark them in red in the logs so that when I reread them, I know what I did wrong. I think it's helpful, but I might scale back to writing maybe 3 times a week so that I have more time to process the corrections. We'll see.
But Iversen said something really wise: The trick to being consistent is to not expect a masterpiece each time. Even if you write two sentences, it's writing practice. I think he's so right. It's just easier said than done. For me, it's always: "Well, you can't just write 2 sentences; at least do a paragraph." And then I think, "Well, I don't really feel like doing a paragraph, so why don't I do nothing at all." And that's precisely the wrong attitude for me, I think. I think it would be better to just write the darn two sentences and let it go. So, that's what I'm going to try to do more of, especially since my time is so tight at uni. Good luck this week!
