As this TAC approaches it's final month, I decided to look at all my original goals, and how close I'm from completing them.
Spanish
Somehow, unlike other TAC years, I've really held back on my Spanish, and I won't make this goal. After I finished the extremely long Platiquemos course, I looked at other courses, and other materials. My level of Spanish is now beyond almost all standard advanced courses. The only Spanish material I find sufficiently challenging are the advanced all Spanish ELE grammar courses. That said, I can still learn a bit by LR, and other techniques.
Current Medal: Silver
Russian
I really wanted to make 2010 a year to tackle more Russian than previous. This goal is teasingly close, and if I'm disciplined, I might just make it.
Current Medal: Silver
French\Hungarian
This combined goal is also close, but I'm not sure if I'll make it. December is a very social month, with friends returning from abroad. Then again, it's just 16 hours.
Current Medal: Silver
Danish
A goal I added during the year, and managed to complete. :-)
Current Medal: Silver
Others
This originally included French and Hungarian, but it's now everything else. This goal is also a hairs breadth from completion.
Current Medal: Silver

Lots of great progress for 2010, and I love the idea of awarding medals on the basis of completing goals! :)

Just a quick update. Russian is still my primary language of choice at the moment, but I've been dabbling in both French and Spanish. I'm finally feeling like Russian is becoming a language for me. While I've still a huge way to go before holding a decent conversation, I'm getting to grips with the basics, and can follow the gist of most conversations. I'll stick with Russian for a while longer, and see where it goes.
Time to Russian Target: 47 hours (From 200 hours goal)

Odd dream last night. I dreamt I was learning Urdu. I've never looked at this language before, and I know nothing about it. Maybe it was a prophetic dream. Back in the real world, I'm still studying Russian. My study has been weighted towards the Teach Yourself course, but I'm also using Modern Russian 1.
I've written about my long sweep technique previously, and I'm using the same method with the TY course. I'm also treating the course normally, and completing all exercises and units. During a long sweep, I might read all the grammar sections back to back, or it might be the vocabulary. I'll do this a couple of times at various intervals. While there are a lot of Russian resources available, I would use this method with less covered languages. Perhaps that's why I dreamt about learning Urdu.

Like most of my previous TAC's, I've been tracking my time in a spreadsheet. Since this morning, I've just past an important milestone.
Total Hours Study: 703 hours.
This means if I kept to my original goals (laughs manically), I would've passed them. I see that a lot of people are already firing up for TAC 2011. I haven't made up my mind whether I'll join in or not. I've been TACing for the past three years now, and don't know if I'll get the time to keep a log in 2011. Anyway, there's still a month left of TAC 2010, so I can't distract myself with next years goals.

I'm not sure why I left editing my profile about Spanish for so long. Having sat a placement test, I can comfortably claim Basic Fluency at last. The placement test put me at the B2\C1 level so I'm very happy with that.
I've also worked out my language study totals for the past three years. This is an edited repost from another log.
Russian
2008: 71 hrs.
2009: 72 hrs.
2010: 197 hrs.
Russian Total: 340 hrs.
Current Level: Lower Intermediate
Spanish
2008: 328 hrs.
2009: 376 hrs.
2010: 237 hrs.
Spanish Total: 941 hrs.
Current Level: Basic Fluency
Hungarian
2008: 98 hrs.
2009: 107 hrs.
2010: 18 hrs.
Hungarian Total: 223 hrs.
Current Level: Beginner\Lower Intermediate.
French
2008: 140 hrs.
2009: 120 hrs.
2010: 48 hrs.
French Total: 308 hrs.
Current Level: Upper Intermediate.
Note: The totals for 2008 and 2009 are below the actual figures.

If you look at the above post, you'll realise I'm 3 hours away from my Russian goal: :-) I've also re-introduced the Living Language course, the Routledge grammar and the New Penguin Russian course into the mix.

The end of TAC 2010 is fast approaching. I've just achieved my Russian goal, and I'm now working on the combined Hungarian and French goal. This involves a mixture of the two Assimils, and various other resources. I've also started an L-R variant with the first French Harry Potter book, Harry Potter à l'école des sorciers.
Time to Russian Target: 0 hours (From 200 hours goal)
Time to French\Hungarian Target: 10 hours (From 100 hours goal)
Total Hours Study (2010): 729 hours.
