That's quite an impressive video. If only I could have seen this before my exam. I
would definitely give her at least a C1 as well. Her accent is very good and her manner
of speaking gives the impression that she's quite confident with her French. This is
not the DALF exam but it's a good indicator for those of out there learning French what
can be expected of a good effort at a C1 level. I will have the results for my own exam
by the middle of January, I can't wait to find out!!

Ok time to take some stock and leave this log to rust and disappear into cyber space. I
kind of spent less time working on L-R this year than last year but I replaced this by
listening to 100's and 100's of hours of authentic podcasts put out by radio stations.
I'm at a really good level of listening comprehension now.
A very satisfying thing which I have done which I haven't seen anyone else here do, is
to keep a log of films watched, books read/L-red, courses done. Most of the
satisfaction is keeping a list of films watched. You can slowly and surely over the
space of a year make quite a sizable list of films. I guess not every language learner
has at his disposal the wealth and number of films in French cinema, however even
smaller countries/languages produce surprisingly large numbers of films, I am quite a
fan of some Israeli and Iranian films which are quite recent. I have found that one
director may lead to another or one film to another. Picking up stuff at random can
lead to some nice surprises to.
So that said I will post what I've seen over the course of this year. 2010 was a year
of discovery. I became familiar with some new names whilst enhancing my knowledge of
some others which I knew previously. In my list I wrote the name of the directors who
have a reputation alongside the film and I gave a score which is of course absolutely
pointless. The list was made chronologically as the year went, more often than not I
can remember where, how and with whom I watched these films.

With hundreds of hours' more listening and exposure to French, it sounds like you've reached a very high level in your listening skills. What's it like now to watch a film in French compared to the beginning of the year, and do you understand pretty much all the details? :)

I think there has been quite an improvement from pre-France 2010 and more so 2009. I
went to watch a film today called je t'aime je t'aime and I happily watched away with
everybody else. I think listening to hours and hours of French a day eventually does
ingrain things into your brain. I still feel an immense amount of frustration regarding
my own spoken level. But I'm trying to work on this! One this is for sure, having a
good level of listening comprehension does not equal the same spoken level as some
would have you believe. I won't mention names.
-------------------------------
O.k this will be my last post for this log. Thanks everyone for 2010. In particular my
team mates Buttons and Microsnout and a big thanks to Teango.
I set some moderate goals for the year and I think I surpassed them. My month stay in
France turned into 7-8 months now and I sat the C1 exam instead of the B2 exam as
planned. I used every resource imaginable, but most importantly I got out there and
started communicating in French. I look forward to trying some new things in 2011
(which I will explain in my new log) whilst sticking to what I know works.
Merci a tous!
